The Prison-Made Queen novel Chapter 940

"Clive, are you absolutely sure you want to cross this line with me?"

"Without me, you'd already be rotting in the gutter!"

"What gives you the right to stand in my house and scream at me?"

But as the words left his mouth, Zeus caught himself. His clinical trials were entering their most critical phase, and if he completely alienated Clive, he'd lose his only test subject.

Realizing he couldn't afford to burn this bridge, Zeus forcibly reigned in his temper. He smoothed out his features, adopting a soft, placating tone to calm the hysterical Clive.

"Clive, listen to me. The doctor fed you a bunch of lies!"

"I told you I had it under control, and I do. I'm your brother. I would never hurt you."

"And what kind of hospital did you even go to? Some scam private clinic? The nausea, the exhaustion you're feeling—that's just the medication doing its job! Your body is flushing out the toxins! It's a normal detox reaction. It's a good thing!"

"It means the virus in your system is being eradicated. Even your complexion is better than it was, you've noticed that yourself!"

Zeus took a few steps forward, looking down at Clive. His voice was firm and authoritative, but the fanatical, obsessive gleam in his eyes was unmistakable.

Clive looked up through blurred, tear-filled eyes. The absolute madness radiating from his brother sent a violent chill down his spine. He couldn't fathom how Zeus could stand there and keep lying.

Once trust is shattered, there is no putting the pieces back together.

Clive was done swallowing his brother's poison.

Looking into Zeus's crazed, manic eyes, he finally realized that you couldn't reason with a psychopath.

He scrambled to his feet, desperate to escape the suffocating apartment.

"I curse the day we were born into the same family. You'd better pray this doesn't kill me, because if it does, I swear to God I'll drag you to hell with me."

"Where are you going?!" Triggered by the rejection, Zeus lunged forward, his hand clamping down on Clive's arm with a terrifying, iron grip.

"Let go of me! You're out of your damn mind, I'll never trust you again!"

"I'm going to the hospital! I'm checking myself in! I refuse to let you murder me!"
