"I have something I need to ask him."
Even though Ken was displeased with her, he certainly didn't have the authority to make decisions for his boss.
Hearing her request, despite his distaste for her, he maintained his professional tone. "Hold on, I need to check if he's available."
"Okay, thank you so much, Ken."
Celia waited patiently.
Hanging up, Ken knocked on the door of the CEO's office.
Stepping inside, he reported, "Mr. Zucker, Ms. Stafford just called. She said she has something she needs to ask you."
Alistair was looking down, reviewing the documents on his desk.
Hearing Ken's words, he paused his movements and set down his fountain pen.
Looking up, he raised a hand toward Ken.
Understanding the gesture, Ken redialed Celia's number and respectfully handed the phone over to the man.
...
On the other end, when the phone rang again, Celia's lips curled into a smirk before she answered.
"Hello? Ken?"
The man's voice was cold and detached, completely devoid of emotion. "It's me."
"Uncle Alistair?" Celia's tone instantly brightened. "Did you go visit my grandfather today?"
"Yes," Alistair replied.
"It's such a shame I wasn't at the villa. I missed you," she said, sounding genuinely apologetic.
"What did you need to ask me?" Alistair had no intention of making small talk, asking the question flatly.
"Well, Alfred called and said Grandpa has been asking for a specific kind of coffee ever since you left."
She paused, letting out a helpless little laugh. "I asked him about it, and apparently, when you visited today, you mentioned the coffee you and my dad used to drink in the military. Now Grandpa is throwing a fuss, demanding to try it. So I wanted to ask you what brand of coffee it was, so I could buy some for him."
