The desk was crafted from a priceless mahogany.
There was a narrow gap in the center, and Celia, being petite, had tucked herself right into it.
From her hiding spot, she had a clear view of the man's long, tailored legs, and just above that, his lean waist.
Alistair Zucker wore an impeccably cut suit, sitting with perfect posture. Frowning slightly, a fleeting look of sheer disbelief crossed his eyes.
He looked down at Celia. She stared back up at him with wide, doe-like eyes, her expression a mix of grievance and silent pleading.
Pressing her palms together, she shook her hands slightly toward the man looking down at her, her face tense with desperation.
Her lips parted, and he easily read the words she mouthed.
*Please don't tell anyone.*
His lips pressed into a thin line, a storm of turbulent emotions swirling in his dark eyes.
Shifting his legs in a slightly unnatural stance to conceal her, Alistair lifted his head to address the person who had just walked in.
"Good afternoon, Mr. Zucker."
The voice belonged to a man Celia had never seen before, and she had no idea what his relationship with Alistair was.
However, she had caught a quick glimpse of his ID badge, confirming he was a company employee.
It was already completely inappropriate for a lowly intern like her to be in the CEO's office, an area that required high-level keycard access.
So, wasn't it perfectly reasonable for her to "worry" about their relationship being exposed and choose to hide under his desk?
Alistair understood exactly what she was concerned about, which was why he chose to cover for her.
His gaze darkened as he looked at the employee standing before his desk, remaining completely silent.
"Mr. Zucker, I'm the new project manager appointed by Ken," the man said, his tone humble and respectful. "He instructed me to report to you first before heading to the project department."
In principle, a new project of this scale absolutely did not require Alistair's personal oversight; he usually wouldn't even glance at something so trivial.
But things were different now.
Beneath the desk, Celia raised an eyebrow at the new manager's self-introduction.
