"That won't be necessary," Alistair said with slow deliberation from the back seat. "She's going to Forrester Group as well."
Ken paused for a moment, then remembered the connection between the Forrester family and Celia. "Understood."
The car started up again. As they drove past the loudmouth sports car owner and the traffic cops finishing up the report, Celia heard the man's breakdown.
"I'm not lying! She really did swear at me earlier!"
The roar of the engine completely drowned out the rest of his howling.
Alistair worked throughout the ride, and Celia didn't interrupt. The car rolled smoothly until they arrived outside the Forrester Group headquarters.
Given his status, there was no need for Alistair to personally visit Forrester Group to negotiate a project. He only made the time because the elder of the Forrester family had repeatedly invited him, insisting there was an urgent matter to discuss.
Outside the building, the head of the family and Talbot's father, Franklin Forrester, was waiting to greet him personally. Dressed in a sharp suit, his every movement was exceedingly cautious.
Celia had met Franklin a few times before. Usually, he looked at her as if she owed him a million bucks. This was the first time she had ever seen him acting so subservient.
Seeing Alistair step out, Franklin hurried forward, offering his hand. "Mr. Zucker, it's been far too long!"
Alistair returned the handshake with polite restraint, his posture immaculate. "You're too kind, Mr. Forrester."
From the driver's seat, Ken asked, "Ms. Stafford, aren't you getting out?"
Celia smiled and shook her head. "No, if I get out with Uncle Alistair, it might cause unnecessary trouble for him."
If a woman stepped out of Alistair's car, regardless of who she was, it would immediately become a complicated issue he'd have to explain to the sharks, sycophants, and competitors watching his every move. Alistair despised unnecessary trouble.
Hearing her reasoning, Ken shot Celia an appreciative look.
"I'll just wait in the car for a bit. There's no rush."
After seeing how she handled several situations in a row, Ken had developed a fond impression of her and decided to strike up some casual conversation. "Are you here to see Talbot?"
