The Man Who Waited vs. The Man Who Wasted novel Chapter 472

Adrian finally remembered.

Before the formal lawsuit was filed, visitation rights had indeed been revoked.

So Audrey couldn't have seen him.

She finally pieced together what he was insinuating.

"Are you suspecting that my dad and I did this?"

Adrian's mind was a chaotic mess.

"I was just being impulsive."

Audrey's tears fell on command.

"Adrian, it's one thing for you to be so frantic over your ex-wife right in front of me, but to actually suspect me... aren't you crossing a line?"

He couldn't be bothered to apologize. Pacing the room, he debated calling Julian back for more details.

Then, his phone rang.

It was another unknown number.

Adrian answered it immediately.

The voice on the other end was sinister and cold.

"Adrian Lowell, your wife is in my hands. If you want her to stay alive, bring me five million dollars."

His wife?

Jocelyn?!

Adrian almost cursed the man out.

Thankfully, he held his tongue.

"Fine. Give me the address."

The caller replied, "I'll text you the address shortly. Remember, come alone. If you don't, I'll kill her immediately."

The line went dead.

Adrian instantly dialed Todd.

"Get five million dollars in cash ready, right now."

Todd was stunned.

"Boss, pulling together five million in cash takes time."

Adrian snapped, "Make it fast, preferably right this second. If you're short a single cent, you can pack your bags! A life is on the line!"

Todd finally grasped the severity of the situation.

"Understood, Boss. I'll get on it immediately."

Five million dollars.

To Adrian, it was a drop in the bucket.

Audrey gripped the edge of the desk so hard she nearly snapped the wood.

She had never seen him this frantic before.

The ashtray was soon overflowing with cigarette butts.

The sight of the ruined cigarettes stung Audrey's eyes.

And her heart ached.

There was no denying it anymore.

That bitch had completely moved into Adrian's heart.

"Adrian, don't worry. Jo will be fine."

She said the words aloud, but internally, she was cursing her to die.

Adrian exhaled a thick plume of smoke, his unreadable expression masked by the haze.

"She better be."

Audrey purposely tested the waters.

"Should we let Julian Vance know she's been kidnapped?"

Adrian's voice dropped to a freezing temperature.

"It's just five million dollars. Do you think I can't afford it?"

Tell that man?

And let him play the hero?

The woman who belonged to him could only be saved by him!
