Ophelia felt herself stiffen from the bottom of her being, but relaxed when Nikolai started laughing. She was aware of how hot her face was getting and that Nikolai was laughing as a result.
“You…” In an attempt to conceal her face from him, she turned her face away. “You asked why I force my smiles.”
With a persistent smile on his face, Nikolai cocked his head to fully see her fiery face. “Yes, I did. And I am aware of the cause.”
“Do you realize that I do not force my smiles with you?” Smiling, Ophelia
asked.
“I do.” Nikolai lulled.
Ophelia smiled and turned back to face him. “You are really observant.”
“You are simply too fascinating to be unobservant, Storm,” Nikolai mumbled as he stood up and extended his hands to lift her up.
Ophelia gazed for some time. It was beyond her control. She was captivated by him and adored the atmosphere as the wind blew through his hair, garments, and lit up his ruby eyes as they peered directly at her.
“I can say the same about you Niki.” As laid her hands on his, she spoke. And without missing a beat, he quickly grabbed her and effortlessly raised her
“Hmmm.” He pulled her in close and put his arms around her, pressing their bodies together. “Sounds like a compliment.”
Laughing, Ophelia placed her hands on his shoulders. “It’s nothing but the
truth.”
“Truth?” Asking, Nikolai leaned in close, staring at her radiant golden eyes.

“Are you sure about that?”
Ophelia gulped. His tone was growing softer, and she found herself staring at his lips. “I am.” She murmured as she realized what she was doing and

though her moan had set off a chain reaction, Nikolai drew her closer, ssed as if his life depended on it. And when she started to return the affection with the same intensity, he was astounded by his body’s response to her.
It was in a manner beyond his comprehension but he realized that his whole existence rocked at that instant.
His body was heating up, his heart was racing wildly, and his attempts to comprehend what was happening to him led him to grasp her even closer.
He gave her a fierce, long kiss before withdrawing to give her face a peek of her searing stupor.

Nevertheless, she gave a slight writhe, to which Nikolai picked up right away. “I…” Gazing intently into his eyes, she trailed once more.
Gradually, Nikolai let go of her, observing her as she stepped back from him and maintained a calm distance. “Hmmm.” The disappointment he felt was not hidden. Experiencing her absence, he felt hollow.
“Th.. this is wrong.” Ophelia let out a breath.
“You…”
“I am betrothed to someone else.” Ophelia interrupted right away and turned away.
Nikolai’s eyes became wide until, at last, a frown appeared on his face. “Do you think I care about that?”
“Not at all. I don’t believe that.” With a mumbled expression, Ophelia twiddled her fingers and shut her eyes. “But you should think about me.”
Nikolai let out a sigh. “None of this matters.”
Astonished, Ophelia opened her eyes. “I simply made an error. That doesn’t lessen my feelings about Dominik.”
Incredulous, Nikolai opened his mouth to speak, but then he closed it, swallowing the words that were threatening to spill out.
“We should return to the castle.” Ophelia spoke abruptly and moved
forward.
“No.” Nikolai grasped her arm and tightened his hold. “I am fully aware that you are engaged to someone else, and that I am the master blood moon god, making me essentially your natural enemy. But, do you not believe that it applies to me as well? You are a sun goddess and the protector of the

Silently, she released her lips from his, grinning. “You sound like you have a reason to stay.”
“I do.” Admitting it, Nikolai leaned his forehead on hers.
Ophelia let out a sigh. “We have to battle each other, remember?”
Nikolai kept silent. She was aware that he preferred to ignore that. Currently, at least. How did things come to this point?
“We should return back to the castle.” Nikolai whispered, cupping her face.
Ophelia nodded. “Very well.”

“No.” Ophelia let out a sigh.
Nikolai stopped. “Are you alright?”
“I am…. I am heading to the castle to get some information from my father.” Ophelia made it known to him.
Slowly, Nikolai nodded. “Very well, then. But is it possible for us to visit the river before we leave the ball?”
“Huh?” Ophelia was taken aback.
“I meant the place we met for the first time.”
