Ophelia tried to calm her breathing and heart rate and took another step in
Nikolai’s direction.
Getting close to him and fleeing with him was her idea. He was in grave danger because of her.
She hated this feeling. The feeling of helplessness.
As she took a stride toward him, out of the corner of her vision, she saw a
familiar figure. And when she reached out to touch Nikolai, he materialized
at her side.
As he quickly raised the blade to stab Nikolai, Ophelia’s eyes narrowed. She didn’t know what was going through her, but she grasped Nikolai’s arm and disappeared. But despite her best efforts to avoid it, the blade grazed her skin brutally.
Arriving at the waterfall in the forest, Nikolai grabbed Ophelia panicked, staring at the blood streaming out of her arm.
“Why would you do that?!” With equal panic, he let out a shout and covered the wound with his palm. The cut immediately covered up as a deep crimson glow emerged.
While Ophelia gasped for air, Nikolai looked at her as if he had almost lost her. Her eyes welled with tears. “I apologize! I didn’t know that judgment would be like that!”
Nikolai looked at her, astonished. “Do not apologize to me!” He released her. “It is not your fault that you are surrounded by hypocrites!”
Ophelia whiffed. “I…”
“Do not cry either.” Nikolai sighed, cupped her face and eased his forehead

against hers.
Ophelia closed her eyes and shuddered. “That… That was Dominik.”
Nikolai remained silent.
We have to get you out of here!” Ophelia leaned away from him and roclaimed. But she stiffened as he pulled her back into an embrace.
“After this, are we going to see each other again?” Nikolai questioned, his face pressed deep into he hollow.

“I don’t want to do this.” He shook his head and murmured.
Ophelia’s eyebrows shot up. “You do not want to kill me?”
Nikolai nodded.
Ophelia scowled. “Why not?” She surprised Nikolai by removing a dagger from the side of her dress.
“Do not make me do this.” He turned away, only to have Ophelia appear in front of him.

“It is my decision not yours!” Ophelia cried out.
“Decision?” With an incredulous scuff, Nikolai inquired.
Ophelia gave him a pinched took. “Are you really going to make it appear as though I am not thinking straight? You blatantly want to be killed by me!”
Nikolai averted his gaze from her. “If we can’t kill each other, it’s better to do this the easy way.”
“What easy way?” Ophelia hurried to stand in front of him and questioned in confusion. “Are yo ing sight of the fact that it is your duty to cause the

Not even a muscle twitched to protest her advancès, as Nikolai choked between his screams.
“Why don’t you fight back?” Ophelia questioned, the dagger out and shoved back, “Fight back!” She kept stabbing him, screarning.
Why was he not taking any action? Why was he not defending himself? She kept stabbing him in an attempt to rile him to the point where he would murder her!
