155 Dawn of gods (4)
Nikolai held his breath. His heart briefly halted before starting again when he noticed that she was indeed wearing under garments. He slowly turned away and walked over to have a seat on the grass. And as soon as he turned his attention back to the river, Ophelia was already submerged in the water, which covered her entire body and her chest. She was still, smiling, with her eyes closed.
Although a goddess’s beauty wasn’t unexpected, Nikolai had never felt flustered or embarrassed in front of anyone.
It was challenging for him to look away from her, but he eventually succeeded by turning to face his sword. “What was she talking about? Pounding feelings?” He then scoffed.
Listening to his words, Ophelia opened her eyes and stared at the blood moon god, who was looking at his sword rather than her. He was really attractive and quite calculative. She had not anticipated that the renowned blood moon master god would be such a gentleman who did not stare lustfully at a goddess who was bathing.
He more than impressed her, and she thought he was wonderfully fascinating.
“Do you not desire a bath? It can be compared to swimming.” She murmured, beckoning his attention with a wave.
“You might not be able to walk out properly if I get in the water with you in it.” Still focusing on his sword, Nikolai said in a casual manner.
His remarks caused Ophelia’s eyes to expand, and her face to turn pink. “How are you able to use such acceptable language?!” She questioned, raising her voice.

“Why else would you invite me to bathe with you?” Suddenly asking, Nikolai then turned to look at her, grinning. “Or perhaps I should say, swim with you?”
Ophelia squinted as she dipped her body a little deeper into the water. “It was merely a suggestion; I didn’t mean it that way.”
She immediately came off as hesitant, and Nikolai laughed at that. “How adorable.” He then turned his attention back to his sword.
Ophelia pursed her lips. “Are you married?”
“No.”
“Aren’t the elders attempting to arrange for your marriage in some way?” Ophelia asked with slow curiosity.
“No. I have the option to sleep with anybody I choose. Everyone is aware of my unwillingness to commit, so they don’t even consider pressuring me into absurd agreements that will only serve to derail my plans and
objectives.” Nikolai gave a direct, unflinching response, but he couldn’t help but wonder why she was asking him such personal questions. Did she intend to evaluate them side by side? The way that gods functioned was extremely diverse.
“Oh.” Ophelia said, appearing and sounding discouraged. “However, you do need someone or something to love, care for and, of course, protect you.”.
Looking back at her, Nikolai furrowed his brow. How could someone with their body submerged in water appear so lovely and seductive? “Love? Care? Protect? You say strange things, Ophelia.”
“Strange?” Ophelia questioned in shock.
“How could anyone care for, love, and protect me? Being an existing evil, I take pleasure in every act of fear, misery, and the taking of innocent lives that irritate me. Don’t consider yourself fortunate simply because you are

still alive in my presence.”
Ophelia smiled. “I understand you quite well. After all, you are a deity of the blood moon. One of the worst beings existing. However, I don’t believe in good and evil. Everyone is entitled to be loved, cared for, and protected. You as well.”
Nikolai chuckled. “As I’ve already stated, you’re incredibly fascinating. You use such odd words.”
“It’s just reality.” Ophelia snickered.
“Reality?” Nikolai laughed and got to his feet. “It all sounds like childish play to me.”
“But, it isn’t.” As Nikolai started to approach her, Ophelia crooned, retreating to the deeper area of the river.
“It is.” Her clothing and undergarments were lying on the ground and Nikolai smirked, casting a glance at them.
“Do you not feel empty?” Ophelia inquired out of the blue.
“Empty?” Taken aback by that unusual inquiry, Nikolai asked. He gave her a glance. She was looking at him intently as she awaited his response.
“Aren’t you feeling lonely? Nobody is available to you to display such affection towards you.”
“Being a goddess is exhausting. There are a lot of greedy dragons that have been tainted by the likes of you, but I also create them such that they can think for themselves and develop on their own without my intervention. Unfortunately, the other gods are more concerned with laying that foundation and penning their fates.” Ophelia sighed. “Sometimes I honestly believe that fate is merely another word for “order” in disguise. They claim that this marriage is required by the order, but I do not desire it. The order is not important to me. It’s not important for me.”

Nikolai hummed. “It wasn’t in the order, but I still killed my father and wiped out my brothers before they could even think of planning for the rightful position of supreme blood moon god.”
“Huh?” Ophelia’s eyes widened.
“Defying the order is dangerous, but as long as I get what I want, I truly don’t care about the repercussions. Whatever brings me joy.
“Oh.” Ophelia pouted. “Therefore, there is no deal. You’re assisting the fulfillment of my desire?”
Nikolai guffawed. “That’s how it seems.”
At the sound of his soothing chuckle, Ophelia smiled, flushing. “I’m glad.”
Nikolai approached the river and entered it. Given that he was already pretty wet, he didn’t care as much.
Ophelia was astonished to see him getting close to her, but her body didn’t flinch or even try to flee. “You… You allegedly stated that you don’t
take baths.”
“What?” Nikolai laughed.
“You…”
“I’m not, and neither am I swimming.” Nikolai mumbled, his tone seeming almost lullaby-like in its tranquility.
“You just said that I won’t be able to walk properly if you come in.”
“Calm down, you’re like a building storm.” Nikolai chuckled, finding her incredibly amusing.
Ophelia blinked. “Storm?”
