150 Curse of the fire god
150 Curse of the fire god
The sky was dim and coming very close to nightfall.
The imperial city was a sizable metropolis that would take at least two days to leave but the carriage traveled through an ice forest, which was formerly a warm, green springs woods. It was also a fast route out of the capital.
While the sounds of the trotting horses, the scratches of the carriage wheels meeting the rough snowed floor and the sound of Vladmir and Sasha arguing, Ophelia and Nikolai remained silent.
Ophelia, who was inadvertently caressing her neck, caught Nikolai’s attention repeatedly. Her neck was as smooth as it was supposed to be but she was lost in her thoughts.
His eyes took note of her insignificant, somewhat tense motions. She kept biting her lower lip, her fingers were pressed against the side of her neck, and there was a slight flicker of fire in the corners of her hazel-gray eyes.
Those motions.
Nikolai moved closer to her and gripped her chin making her face him.
“Does it hurt?”
Ophelia’s eyes grew wider. “W… what?”
Nikolai twitched his lips. “Your neck.”
“Oh.” She bit her lower lip once more, and Nikolai noticed that he was becoming even harder than before.
He let go of her chin with a heavy sigh, moving toward the brink. It was best to stay away from her for the time being.

“Don’t leave!” Ophelia screamed, scurried over to him, jumped up onto his lap, and seized his cloak.
Nikolai’s eyes flared. She acted so quickly, but the heavens knew he was grateful for his enormous, thick cloak, which further prevented her from feeling his stoicism.
“I’m not leaving.” Nikolai laughed.
“You were about to.” Ophelia murmured, resting her head against his chest and she closed her eyes in response to his warmth.
As he closed his eyes, Nikolai wrapped her body in his arms. “I won’t ever abandon you.”
“Where are we heading to?” asked Ophelia. Even though she had no idea, she wasn’t surprised that Nikolai didn’t want the wedding to take place in the castle or anywhere else in the imperial capital.
“Mount Sidus is located on Celestia’s east side. There, I have a mansion.” Nikolai said, stroking the back of her head.
“A mansion?” Ophelia was surprised.
“Actually, it belonged to my grandfather but it is now mine. Legally.”
Nikolai revealed.
“Legally.” With her eyelids feeling heavy, Ophelia drewled. “I assumed your mother would accompany us.””
Nikolai’s face darkened. “A seer can do it as well. My dear FireStorm, you have nothing to be concerned about.”
Ophelia grinned, and shortly after, she noticed that she was drifting off to sleep. She eventually gave in, confident that it would temporarily relieve her discomfort.
As soon as Nikolai realized she was asleep, he carefully moved her and

helped her lie down, putting a pillow under her head to help her feel more
at ease.
“Pain.” The Tiger Phoenix emerged from the shadows at the far end of the carriage in response to his call and peered at him curiously.
“I will need a small amount of your energy.” He addressed the Tiger Phoenix, who stood up and walked over to him with a snarl of disapproval.
Nikolai guffawed. “I know it’s dangerous, but you must lend me your energy so that I can wake up in time for the wedding. I need it to make my work worthwhile in order to get us to Sidus in time.”
This time Nikolai scowled as Pain snarled again in disapproval. “I won’t be able to move more than two people and three carriages without using all of my energy. I will not wake up for more than 48 hours if you do not offer me your energy.”
Pain growled.
Nikolai scowled even more. “Are you being serious right now?”
Pain’s eyes grew stern with utter contempt.
Nikolai moaned with annoyance. “I don’t have time for this.” And his eyes burned intensely.
Ophelia was instantly surrounded by a bright, blazing shield.
Dark mist abruptly dissipated brutally from Nikolai’s body, spreading out of the carriage, encased the other two and they all abruptly disappeared from view and reappeared instantly in front of a massive ornate silver
gate.
The gate was situated in the middle of trees that appeared to be entirely formed of ice. Despite the absence of the moon and stars in the night sky,

these trees nevertheless glittered in some unidentified light, lending the area a foreboding sense of mystery.
The guards in the carriages were completely taken aback and perplexed, but as soon as the gates opened, they entered the compound and stopped
at the castle’s entrance.
Inhaling heavily from exhaustion, Nikolai’s ominous cloud vanished.
Heavily drooping, his eyes changed into their thick, black demon form. “I think the delay will exceed 48 hours. Goddess! My wedding night.” He muttered helplessly at Pain, who was still glaring at him with complete displeasure.
Nikolai turned to look at Ophelia again, a flimsy smile formed on his lips as the shield encircling her disappeared.
“Nikolai!” Rhaziel’s voice resounded outside, and as soon as the door swung wide, Nikolai shoved himself outside, smiling in Rhaziel’s face who gaped in shock.
The rest of the group were outside and shocked that they had suddenly found themselves on mount Sidus, which was located far to the east of
Celestia.
“I’ll be awake soon.” Nikolai moaned and fell unconscious instantly.
“You better!” Rhaziel groaned frustrated and grabbed Nikolai to keep him from falling.
He peered into the carriage and noticed Ophelia sound asleep and Pain staring out into space. Whilst, Lev, Vladmir, Esmeralda, and Sasha all had distinct surprised perplexed expressions on their faces as he sighed and
turned to face them.
“It’s best if we start making arrangements right away.” Rhaziel murmured to Sasha and Vladmir then turned to face the dark, starless sky that was

crammed with irate clouds.
Not again!
The day was supposed to be perfect. After all, she was getting married to the person she loved.
From the attack from Tiana, to the missing puzzles to solve everything, pleasant moments absorbed every form of worry and she completely forgot that her marriage with Nikolai was an abomination to the gods
themselves.
Returning to the land of fire, Ophelia shrieked in agony and dropped to her knees. It was the only place that made her feel the sensation of fire searing into her skin.
Again, there were no visible burns on her flesh, but she still felt the scorch. It was torturous and it gave her the thoughts of wishing for death.
Her eyes began to tear up, and she noticed that her breath was fading away. “Why do you keep torturing me like this?”
“You know why! My anger grows as you come closer to completely disobeying me.” She was enraged by that voice!
She screamed loudly as she stood up, exhaling her anger and pain as she gazed up at the blood-red sky. “I don’t care if you’re a god or not, but do you not feel as though you are becoming a little too involved? You’re just making me want to kill you at this rate.”
“Foolish! You are merely mortal, like an ant. You have no power over me.” With pride, the voice roared.
Ophelia spat out a breath and eventually collapsed to her knees once more. “Yes. I am mortal, I am an ant so why are you doing this to me?”

“I’m taking this action to restore balance! You are allowing history to
repeat itself and I am not going to let that happen. Your demise will come either from me or from all the gods combined.”
“History?” Ophelia inquired, coughing laboriously.
“You will be cursed if you marry Nikolai beneath a shower of crystal stars. You will finally have to make the choice you have been trying to avoid.”
