Ophelia leaped out of the bed, crashing her forehead against Nikolai’s, but she was unaffected by the impact because the anguish from the fire had already enveloped her body.
Her eyes were full with tears that would not shed, and her breath was ragged. And because of the times it had stopped, her heart was pumping wildly and shoving blood into her veins with great force.
She became aware of her body trembling as if she were outside in a brisk winter. How close was she to passing away? How?! How in the world did Nikolai awaken her? She was actually being punished by a god! “I..” She attempted to speak, but instead she let out a violent cough.
Nikolai grabbed her hand just as she was going to slam her chest. “Darling.” He murmured in a soft voice.
Ophelia shuddered with terror. She raised her eyes to his face, attempting valiantly to hide the dread that was tearing at her watery eyes.
“Why do you look so frightened?” Nikolai enquired, glancing at her face with his piercing red eyes.
“N… Nikolai.”
Nikolai leaned his face closer to her. He could see a terrible dread in her
tear-filled eyes, which mirrored his face. It was clear that the nightmare she was experiencing this time wasn’t your typical nightmare.
After handling the suicide situation, Nikolai returned to his original chamber with the intention of sharing a bed with Ophelia. He was already

so exhausted. He didn’t anticipate seeing her body twitching and jolting as if she were having a seizure.
He raced to her and grabbed her shoulders out of sheer panic. In an attempt to wake her up, he shook her, but in vain. However, he soon realized that her heart was stopping repeatedly, and that when it did, her chest would rise as if she were being resuscitated just before passing
away.
Nikolai’s palm was suddenly covered in a dark mist. He suddenly slammed her chest, watching the dark mist explode violently into her body.
When she woke up, she didn’t even notice him. She was extremely
terrified to notice him.
What sort of nightmare was it this time?
“It’s not day time yet, darling, you should sleep some more.” He spoke quietly, released her wrist, and leaned away to take off his coat.
Ophelia, on the other hand, believed he was about to leave. So she stood up and leaped on top of him. Nikolai lost his sense of balance and dropped to the ground.
He let out a deep sigh, wrapping his arms around Ophelia’s body. She had
her head on his chest and trembled in his arms.
“Don’t leave!”
“I won’t.” Nikolai calmly responded.
“You were going to leave!”
“I wasn’t, Firestorm,” He cooed and held tightly. “I wasn’t.”
“I… I thought.. I…”
“Breathe darling.”

Ophelia slowly raised her head, pushing her body against him and he stiffened as he felt himself harden strongly.
This was not the time!
She turned her head to gaze at him, as though he had ten heads. Her gorgeous features were barely hidden by the panicked expression on her face; although her eyes were damp, she was holding it in admirably.
“Why won’t you let them out?” He questioned her softly, cupping the side of her face and caressing her flawless skin with his thumb. He was confident that she hadn’t even realized they were in a different chamber. He wanted to modestly boast to her.
Sadly, this wasn’t the time.
“Why are you gazing at me in such a shock?” This time, he queried, furrowing his brows to notice the terror building in her eyes.
“Firestorm?” He sang, pinching her cheek. To be honest, her skin looked paler than usual and was beginning to feel chilly.
Ophelia’s lips parted, but she quickly closed them and gave a slow head
shake.
Nikolai froze. He was now quite inquisitive about the nature of her nightmare. She was so frightened that she was unable to talk.
He controlled his flaming eyes by carefully blinking them. He didn’t want to frighten her further. For the first time in his life, he really wished he could restore his eyes to their natural hue as they began to get faint.
“Darling?” He called, sounding collected and composed.
He had no idea she was so afraid. Every danger to her would soon be gone. There won’t be anyone left to make her unhappy. In situations like this, he wanted to be the one person who could console her, the only one

she could trust. He alone; nobody else. Just as she was exclusively his.
“I…” She opened her mouth to continue speaking, when a recollection suddenly came to her.
Nikolai felt her. She shook like she had been soaked in freezing water in the dead of winter. In an effort to calm her down, he stroked her cheek. Her flawless skin…
“…m..I… Thought.. I..” She kept stuttering and attempting to speak, but it looked as though she was growing more terrified with each attempt.
Ophelia experienced a brief moment of her spirit departing her body as his dangerously crimson eyes flashed. Why did she find that so terrifying?
Nikolai understood that he had caused her to become even more frightened and that if he wanted to truly calm her down, he needed to take care of himself first.
He sighed deeply and closed his eyes, but didn’t leave Ophelia’s cheek unattended.
He could recall. Only on his first shift were his crimson eyes supposed to be activated. However, he had always been unique, and doing something that no one in their right mind would do, triggered his eyes earlier than expected.
“I want you to calm down, Ophelia.”
Ophelia stared at him wide-eyed wondering what he was doing. Was he planning on closing his eyes until she calmed down? Her heart rate quickened and she began to find it hard to breathe.
“N… No..” She stuttered and began to shake her head. “I.. I can’t do th…
This!”
She placed her hand on her chest. Her heart was starting to feel like it was
