"Sir, what kind of accusation is that? I've been running this stall here for years, and no one has ever gotten sick from my food."
"Dead rat meat? I get all my ingredients fresh, straight from Costello Ranch!"
"Bullshit! You think I'd believe that? A cheap street stall like yours gets meat straight from Costello Ranch? What a pathetic lie!"
Street food wasn't supposed to be expensive, so vendors usually had to cut corners to make a profit.
Who would be willing to buy directly from Costello Ranch?
Besides, beef and lamb were currently expensive. Although Aaron didn't usually manage these things, he wasn't completely clueless about basic economics.
Even if the owner was telling the truth, Mia had already thrown up. If there was a way to get out of paying, he was going to take it!
Aaron definitely wasn't going to let this perfect opportunity for a free meal slip by.
The owner's face flushed bright red in anger at Aaron's accusations.
"This is pure slander!"
"I have the receipts to prove I buy my meat straight from the ranch! If your girlfriend is sick, take her to the hospital! Why are you harassing me? If there was really something wrong with the food, why aren't you throwing up? Didn't you two eat the exact same thing?"
Aaron's expression stiffened.
The owner actually had a solid point.
"Aaron, my stomach is killing me. Hurry up and take me to the hospital!"
Although Mia had a habit of being greedy, Aaron was the one paying for this meal, so she didn't care about the cost.
Whatever was wrong with her stomach felt like a knife twisting inside her, and cold sweat poured down her skin from the agonizing pain.
Right now, she just wanted to rush Aaron to pay so they could get the hell out of there.
"You clearly got food poisoning from his stall. He is completely responsible for this!"
"No way, you have to give me an explanation for this right now!"
Aaron absolutely refused to cough up the money for nothing.
"Exactly. How can a grown man act so petty? Have you no shame?"
"Do you even care about your girlfriend at all? If her stomach hurts, shouldn't you be rushing to help her?"
"Yeah, aren't you taking her to the hospital?"
Aaron hadn't expected the crowd to side against him. His face grew darker and darker.
Mia chimed in, urging him as well, "What are you just standing there for? Hurry up and help me up! I'm dying of pain!"
Aaron suddenly found himself the target of everyone's anger.
He was trapped in an impossible situation, feeling like he was going to be despised whether he paid the bill or not.
"Aaron Wells!"
Mia didn't care at all how agonizingly awkward this was for Aaron. She just continued to curse at him. "Are you deaf? Hurry the hell up!"
Aaron was already incredibly dissatisfied with Mia, and seeing her act like this, he simply decided to throw caution to the wind.
