Chapter 325

Can I help you?” a voice said from the entryway of the palace.

Fae and Viktor turned to see an older gentleman standing there, frowning down at them.

“I’m Viktor Vandemere, and this is my mate, Fae,” Viktor introduced.

The man raised his brows.

“The Lycan King and Queen?”

“Yes,” Viktor replied. “We were invited to the royal wedding. But it seems the bride had gone missing?”

The man shook his head.

“She wasn’t the bride. It was a misunderstanding. But she is His Majesty’s mate,” the man said, a sadness on his face. “Or so he seems to think.”

“You don’t think she is?” Faie asked, her brows knitting together.

What was going on in this territory?

“I’m not sure what to think. It’s a lot to process. A lot has happened I can’t really get into. My apologies for the rude welcome. I was aware the invite had been sent to you, but we weren’t expecting you until tomorrow morning. We didn’t think you’d want to spend more than a day here. I’ll have a room cleared for you right away, Your Highness. My name is Landon, the King’s personal attendant. I served as his father’s Beta many years ago.”

“Our schedule had been cleared, so we figured we would arrive a day early so we could get to know our surroundings a little better. I’m sure you know we can’t be too safe wherever we go. Enemies are lurking everywhere nowadays.”

Landon nodded, understanding his face.

“Landon, we would like to help however we can,” Fae said, stepping forward, ignoring her husband’s tightening grip. “Viktor had already contacted our best trackers.”

Landon looked surprised.

“You have?” He asked, looking at Viktor, who nodded.

“Mates are important,” Fae continued. “We came to this territory for the King’s wedding because we want to establish a peace treaty. Let us help you.”

Landon nodded.

“Thank you. It’s appreciated. I’m going to alert the troops that you’ve arrived with and to give you full range. I’ll still have a room prepared for you as well. I’ll have one of the servants take your things there and escort you.”

“No need,” Viktor said. “We will find our own way around. I’m going to shift and hunt the perimeter. Do you have something of hers that I can smell so I can get her scent?”

“Viktor is an excellent tracker,” Fae praised.

Landon looked surprised that they were this eager to help find the missing girl. Fae understood why; she was sure that Landon had heard stories about the Lycans. However, all Viktor and Fae wanted was peace.

“We don’t think she’s around this territory,” Landon said, shaking his head. “She was seen from a cliff east of

here. That’s where His Majesty is heading now. He’s trying to track her scent.”

ll catch up to him then,” Viktor said, stripping off his clothes without thought and effortlessly shifting into his huge wolf.

He went off in the direction the King had gone without looking back.

For the next couple of hours, Fae assisted Landon in rounding up troops, both the Lycans and the werewolves, rallying them up to find the missing future Luna.

The palace was in mayhem, though it was clear that most had no idea what it was for. They assumed it was preparation for the wedding that was supposed to take place tomorrow night. Fae wasn’t entirely sure of the story there because from what Landon had told her, Cecilia, the girl missing, was not the original bride.

Viktor had mindlinked her at one point to tell her that they had made it to the Red Harvest Cliff, a cliff that bordered the Lycan territory and the Red River that went straight into their ocean.

“Mom?” She heard her daughter’s voice come through on a mindlink; she sounded upset, like she’d been crying.
