The Alpha King's Mind Reading Maid (Cecilia) novel Chapter 213

Chapter 213

heart stuttered for a moment before it resumed at a quick speed.

“No, that’s not true,” I said, shaking my head. “He trapped me in a room and tried to have his way with me… I got away before he could.”

“That’s not what I was told,” Sophia said, tugging on Leopold’s arm. “Edgar told me that he was in love with her, and I heard him arguing with Jax recently. Both these men are under the impression that little Miss Cecilia wants them. She truly is a magnet for this type of chaos. Is that really someone you can trust?”

We both stared at Leopold pointedly, waiting for him to decide who to believe. When his gaze left mine and he turned fully to Sophia, I knew the answer.

My heart sank into my stomach.

“Let’s get you to the healer,” he said, his voice coming out gravely as he fought against a violent urge, I knew Warren was making him feel.

“So, that’s it?” I asked, my voice cracking as I spoke. “You immediately take her side because she’s your mate and there’s no other option?”

He paused, his back still towards me, but I could see that he was tense. I didn’t back down, though, I continued even though I knew I shouldn’t have.

“I am so tired…” I whispered shakily, “Tired of begging people to see the truth. Tired of defending myself. Tired of being treated like I’m crazy while she destroys everything around her. Tired of her taking everything that should have been mine…”

I knew I was crossing the line big time, but I couldn’t seem to stop myself.

And you know what the worst part is?” I asked, tears finally leaving my eyes. “I thought you were someone I could trust. But I was wrong. You’re just like the rest of them. You’re no better than Alpha Anthony.”

The moment I said those words, I wished I could have taken them back. I heard Warren growling with anger, a bomb about to go off.

Leopold clenched his fists, and his aura, and the anger simmering off him in waves was enough to make Sophia release his arm and step away from him herself. She was staring up at him worriedly, and I could tell she wanted to say something… anything to calm him. But the words failed him.

Without warning, Leopold’s fist went straight through a nearby table, splitting it in half. Wood splintered all around, making us all jump in fear.

“He did this! Made her mad! Made her hate us!!” I heard Warren growling fiercely.

The gold in Leopold’s eyes flashed dangerously before it disappeared. Leopold blinked for a moment, staring at the broken table.

“Your Majesty?” I heard another voice in the entryway, and I turned to see Landon standing there, frowning.” Everything alright?”

Leopold was quiet for a moment before he cleared his throat, running his fingers through his hair.

“Take Sophia to the healer,” Leopold murmured. “I need to be somewhere.”

“You’re leaving?” Sophia gasped. “Already?”

“I’ll come check on you later,” he assured her.

He started to pass by Landon without giving me a single look in return. Landon glanced around the room for a moment, his eyes lingering on the servants.

“Get back to work,” he ordered them. He then turned towards me and let out a breath. “You should go get yourself situated.”

I must have looked like a mess. I nodded slowly and hurried out of the room. It wasn’t until I was back in my room that I finally let the sobs fly free. I buried my face in my hands and continued to cry until all the tears dried up, and I started to dry heave. Not long before, all my pent-up emotions came tumbling out of my mouth.

I was thankful I made it to the bathroom first.

Third Person POV

A couple of hours had gone by since the incident with Sophia; Landon had brought her to the healer, where she would stay for the night. Once she was settled and the mess in the ballroom was taken care of, Landon went to Leopold’s study to check on him.

He feared what he might find, though.

When he opened the door, Leopold was pacing back and forth. His office had been partly smashed, and he was fighting the urge to growl and shift right on the spot.

“Your Majesty…” Landon tried to say.

“I’m fine,” Leopold growled, but they both knew he wasn’t fine.
