Chapter 164

Cecilia’s POV

The night passed in a blur.

I wasn’t sure when I had finally fallen asleep, but before I knew it… It was morning. I blinked my eyes open to find sunlight forcing its way through the curtains, spilling into the room in soft, unwelcome streaks.

It didn’t feel like I had slept at all.

My body ached, and my bones felt heavy. Even sitting up felt like more effort than it should have.

My eyes burned dry from the tears I had cried the night before.

I felt foolish.

I had known how this would end, and the weight of it pressed down on me, making my chest ache with despair. Leopold was going to tell me it had all been a mistake… the time we had spent together, the moments I had allowed myself to believe in, that it should never have happened.

That Sophia was the one he would choose.

He had already made it clear, right in front of me. And I had been pathetic enough to think, even for a second, that he might

sniffled, but no tears came. There was nothing left. I was just so incredibly tired.

A knock sounded at the door, pulling me from my thoughts.

frowned, staring at it.

t was early… too early for visitors. The knock came again, harder this time, and my brows furrowed when I realized how mpatient they were.

‘Can I help you?” I asked, raising a brow.

“The concubines are to gather in the lounge,” he said flatly. “Immediately.” The urgency in his tone made my stomach tighten, and I felt a flicker of unease about what was to come.

I frowned.

“Why?”

“I can’t say,” he replied without hesitation, as if the answer had been practiced. “I was told to gather you all. Go out of the lounge, or you will be dragged there.”

He stepped back, giving me space to move.

A chill ran through me. Something was wrong.

“Do I have time to change?” I asked, motioning toward my clothes.

His jaw tightened, a low growl slipping from his throat as his wolf stirred beneath the surface, not liking to be challenged.

I made Lora and me uneasy.

“No,” he said, his voice a tow growl.

I didn’t bother to ask again.

I stepped out, closing the door behind me, and began walking. I could feel him close behind me, his gaze fixed on my back as if he expected me to run.

Like I was a threat, or a prisoner.

As we reached the foyer, I realized we weren’t alone.

There were already people gathered-far too many for this hour. Most were still dressed in sleep clothes, their expressions
