The Alpha King's Mind Reading Maid (Cecilia) novel Chapter 154

Chapter 154

Cecilia’s POV

Murmurs erupted around us as Sophia panicked, her hand flying to her throat as she searched frantically for the missing necklace. Those seated nearby immediately joined in, scanning the table and the ground for the pendant.

Leopold, however, remained completely still.

His body didn’t move, his expression unreadable, his eyes fixed solely on Sophia. It was as though he expected the necklace to reappear around her neck if he waited long enough.

Then, without warning, Sophia’s gaze snapped toward me.

Likely, she had been waiting for the moment.

“You,” she said, pointing directly at me. “You took it, didn’t you? You couldn’t stand that the king gave me something special… so you stole it from me.”

I blinked, caught off guard by the accusation.

Eyes turned toward me from every direction.

“I’m sorry… what?”

“You stole the necklace, Cecilia,” Sophia pressed, her voice trembling just enough to sound convincing. “I know it was you. There’s nobody else who would have done it. I know you’re his favored concubine, but sneering from me out of jealousy is crossing the line.”

My heart sank.

I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. She was accusing me of theft without a shred of proof… spinning a story that made no sense yet somehow sounded believable enough to the people around us.

“You can’t be serious,” Jasmine said, folding her arms tightly across her chest. “Cecilia has been sitting here this entire time. She hadn’t done anything wrong.”

“Obviously, I don’t mean just now,” Sophia replied quickly, her eyes glistening with unshed tears. “She must have gone into my room earlier… while I was sleeping or something.”

They were nothing but crocodile tears.

I knew her well enough to recognize them for what they were. She had always been good at performing when it suited her.

I just never thought I would be the one she performed against.

“You’ve always been jealous of me,” she continued, her voice breaking just enough. “And I only ever wanted to be your friend. Stealing from is low… even for you.”

Leopold’s gaze remained fixed on her, unreadable and heavy, his silence creating a tense silence that made it impossible to tell if he believed her or was waiting for the truth to reveal itself.

I found myself wondering which it was.

“I didn’t steal anything,” I said, forcing my voice to remain calm despite the gushing in my chest. “And you have no proof of anything you’re claiming.”

“If that’s the case,” Vivian’s voice cut in smoothly from another table, “then perhaps your room should be searched.”

She lifted her brows slightly, her expression almost amused.

A challenge.

More murmurs spread through the group, and I felt heat rise to my cheeks. Still, I kept my composure, refusing to let them see any crack in it.

“If you have nothing to hide,” she added, her eyes narrowing slightly, “then it shouldn’t be a problem, right?”

“I have nothing to hide,” I replied evenly. “Search all you want.”

This time, Leopold’s gaze shifted to me.

For a brief moment, his eyes searched mine-careful, assessing-before he turned to Landon and gave a curt nod.

Landon stepped forward, clearing his throat.

“Cecilia, come with me.”

My heart pounded against my ribs as I stood, the sound so loud in my ears I was certain someone might hear it. Just as I took a step forward, Jasmin’s hand wrapped around my wrist, stopping me.

“Don’t confess to anything,” she murmured under her breath. “We know you didn’t do this. It’ll be proven soon enough.”
