Surrogate for the Alpha Prince in a Coma novel Chapter 98

Chapter 98

Grayson’s POV

As the meeting went on, Lillian started to squirm on my lap. At once, I was relieved that I had already proved myself and my abilities to this group, because now all of my attention was very directly invested on not allowing myself to become turned on.

I thought of snowfall. Of sports. Cold showers. The pain of a broken bone.

Nothing worked.

Lillian moved, her ass pressing directly over my dick, and despite my best efforts, it started to pay attention, swelling under her. She froze undoubtedly feeling it.

I attempted to clamp down on my pheromones, but in a room full of Alphas, I had little success.

The King laughed. “We had better adjourn this meeting soon, so the newly mated pair here can have more time alone together.”

Chuckles sounded around the room. Lillian’s blush deepened.

Calvin just glared.

“Go on,” the King said. “You two are excused.”

I released Lillian, and she immediately hopped to her feet. Going behind me, she grabbed the handles of the chair and started pushing me from the room. She went a little faster than necessary, but given my condition, I didn’t disapprove.

At the door, I glanced back, catching Calvin watching.

I shot him a smug grin, satisfied with his displeasure.

I didn’t say the words, but they were clearly expressed.

She’s mine.

Calvin’s POV

My hands curled into fists. That bastard knew exactly what he was doing, holding Lillian in front of everyone, acting all possessive when he knew she had been mine first. That had only been the cherry atop the asshole cake that he’d earned by showing me up in front of all the attendants of this meeting.

He hadn’t just stolen Lillian, he’d stolen my favor with the Council and my other supporters.

The meeting adjourned, and groups broke off to talk more privately talk. At once, I went to one of my ardent supporters, the man in the position of Gamma, who prided his position so much he preferred to be addressed by that rather than his real name.

“Gamma,” I said, with respect.

“That was a poor showing today,” Gamma replied, sneering. “You had hoped to gain more favor, and you have done the opposite. That will make it more difficult to support you in the days ahead.”

“There must be some way I can earn you favor,” I said, determined. “Whatever it is, I’m willing to do it.”

“You need to get married,” Gamma said simply.

“That will be no trouble. I’m already engaged.” Lillian’s sister would have to do, after all. For now.

“That’s not all,” Gamma continued. “You will need something Grayson doesn’t have. An heir. Before he can produce one. From the looks of things, the way he acts with his mate, you don’t have much time before he will have a child. Then, you will have no hope of unseating him.”

“My fiancé and I are already attempting for a child,” I said. “She should be pregnant in no time at all. She should already be pregnant.”

“Then move quickly and marry the girl,” Gamma said. “I am done speaking to you now. Until you can accomplish these things, you are useless to me.”

I bowed my head, unable to do anything as the Gamma moved to a different conversation, paying me no more attention.

He was a fickle man, valuing power above all else. Unless I could offer him something, he would not speak to me, nor give me his favor. Without it, I had no hope of taking the role of heir from Grayson.

But Maren and I had been attempting to have a child. I’d been pumping my seed into her every single night. With luck, she would already be pregnant, as I had suggested:

My anger quickening my steps, I returned to the room I shared with Maren while we were visiting the palace. She had been lounging, but with my glare, she immediately hopped to her feet and came closer.
