Chapter 125
Lillian’s POV
The court whispered, all of them staring at me with cruel, judgmental eyes.
The King gestured toward one of the Council, who stood stoic, holding the papers. “We’ve heard all of the evidence in detail now. There is no question of her guilt.
“That evidence is forged,” Grayson said.
The court whispered more.
“Poor man, trying to defend her.”
“She must have fooled him too.”
“He was in a coma. He couldn’t know.”
Grayson looked around, and I cowered beside him, realizing how dire this was. Somehow this ‘evidence’ had convinced all of the court, the council and the King and Queen. They were against us. No, against me. Grayson wasn’t going to be able to save me from this, and I shouldn’t let him.
I started to loosen my hold on him. He looked at me, and something passed over his face, a softness that nearly stole my breath away. What did that mean? Why was he looking at me like that? Like he cared?
His face hardened in an instant, and he looked back to the King. “If she was to have made those movements while I was in a coma, I would have known about it.”
“Son,” the King said. “Listen to yourself. How would you have known? You were in a coma, dead to the world, with only your wolf manifestation to keep you safe. But even your wolf was fooled by this woman.”
“No,” Grayson said firmly. “I would have known.”
The King and Queen looked at each other. A hush fell over the crowd. The King looked at Grayson with new skepticism. “How?”
“The attack upon me was real,” Grayson said. “And I need time to recover. But I have been awake far longer than anyone knew, since before Lillian came to me. So yes. If she had been plotting, I would have known about it.”
A few gasps sounded. Eyes went wide. The Queen covered her mouth with her hand. The King sat more upright on
his throne.
“You’ve lied to all of us,” the King said.
“It was necessary,” Grayson said. “I needed the space to weed out those who had been plotting against me.”
“And did you succeed?” the King asked.
Grayson held his tongue.
“So you failed,” the King said. “And I am supposed to now believe that any of it was real? All you have done here today, son, is prove to me that you cannot be trusted. Betrayed and manipulated by my own flesh and blood. We had suffered while you mocked us. We mourned. No longer.”
“Father -” Grayson started.
“I will hear nothing else from you. Your words are poison.”

Grayson lowered his head. He glanced at me. “Lillian is innocent. She knew nothing.”
“That remains to be seen,” the King said. “For now, I am done speaking with you son. You will be taken into custody until I determine what to do with you.”
“And Lillian?”
“So concerned over your mate,” the King said. “It is possible she was as manipulated as the rest of us. She can stay free, for now, so long as she does not leave the grounds or go anywhere near my food.”
“I’m not a poisoner,” I said, “And Grayson isn’t against you. He -”
“Quiet,” Grayson hissed. “Do not ruin this sacrifice I’ve made for you.”
“But-”
“Stay silent or I will make you silent myself,” he said, glaring.
I shut my mouth.
The guards moved forward, forcing me to move back. The guards placed shackles on Grayson, which he remained patient for. Then they shoved him forward. He cast one long look over the people before finally giving in, going the direction he was directed to.
I didn’t know what to do so I stood there, feeling like a pariah as the rest of the court glared at me. Well, all except Josephine and Benedict who were pushing their way to the front. Ahead of them, though, was Calvin.
“Thank you, Calvin, for bringing forth all of these documents. While, as suspected, some of them are false, it seems the ones about Grayson’s coma being false are real,” the King said. “The court looks on you with favor today.”
Calvin bowed lowly. “Happy to be of service, my King.”
“Father, you know Grayson. He wouldn’t do have of what those documents accused,” Josie said. “If he pretended, it was only because of the reasons he said.”
“That’s no reason to exclude me. Or you, Josie, unless you knew as well and kept it from me.”
She shrunk in front of him. “No. I didn’t.”
“He’s never been against this family,” Benedict said next, trying his hand. “He’s always been a golden boy, the perfect prince in every way.”
“That’s what we thought, Benedict,” the King said. “But behind that façade has been a deceiver. I know you are both fond of him, but this deception cannot be overlooked simply because he is my son. He plotted behind the back of this throne, and that deserves punishment and investigation.”
“Please don’t hurt him, Father,” Josie pleaded.
“What happens next is up to him,” the King said. “I am done addressing this. We are done.” The King and Queen stood, and as they left, the meeting came to an end.
Calvin walked toward me, grinning. “What did I tell you, Lillian? Thanks for your help in this matter,”
“I didn’t help you,” I snapped.
“Sure you did,” he laughed. “Before I had to suck up to your father, marry your sister. Not anymore. Maren’s tumble handled the baby inside her, and your father’s reputation couldn’t be lower. And all the while, I look like

the one who saved us all from the lying prince.”
“You won’t get away with this,” I said. “Those documents are false and soon they’ll realize that.”
“I doubt it,” Calvin said. “But really, you should be worrying about yourself. Without me in the family anymore, and with Grayson in chains, who exactly is going to protect your family?” He lowered his voice. “No one to protect you from me.”
“Calvin,” my father said, pushing forward. “I was hoping to speak to you.”
“I have nothing to say to someone so far beneath me,” Calvin scoffed and walked away.
My father stopped at my side, his scowl shifting straight to me. “This is your fault, you little bitch. If you had done. as you were told, as your family needed, Calvin would still be with Maren and my reputation –
“I don’t care about your reputation,” I snapped at him. “You poisoned your son and left him to die.”
“I gave you the cure, you ungrateful hag.” His glare turned sharp. “If Grayson dies, you come back to my house. Don’t forget that, Lillian, because I won’t. And you will finally get the punishment you deserve.”
“Excuse me,” Prime Beta said, appearing then. He stepped forward, putting himself between my father and me.’ Luna Princess, you are needed elsewhere.”
My father made a disgusted noise, but backed off. Behind him though, on the other side of Prime Beta, it seemed like everyone in the room was looking at me harshly, seeing someone lowly, A criminal.
And I knew, without question, without Grayson here, I was no longer welcome in this place.
