Still You Still Me Still Falling novel Chapter 46

Edmond finished his phone call, turned around, and locked eyes with Sheila.

Even knowing their previous encounters had been purely coincidental, in that split second, dark suspicions flared in his mind.

Sheila's first instinct was to turn on her heel and walk away.

But she held her ground, speaking up before Edmond even had the chance to open his mouth.

"Mr. Halley, you don't need to assume I meticulously plotted this. I'm here for work. If you don't believe me, you can ask Mr. Wagner yourself."

Hearing her say that only made Edmond's expression darken further.

He had eventually seen the messages in the group chat.

He knew exactly who the 'feisty wildcard' Marcus was bragging about was.

Thinking back to the vile things the men in that chat had been saying about her, Edmond had nearly crushed his phone in his grip.

And yet, here this woman was, eagerly name-dropping Marcus as if he were her personal alibi.

If she wasn't careful, she'd end up getting sold off and still thank the guy who did it.

Fine, he thought. Let her make a fool of herself. He could just sit back and watch the show.

Seeing him remain silent, Sheila turned to leave.

Edmond finally spoke. "I didn't ask, and I couldn't care less whether you plotted this or not. Next time we cross paths, don't bother speaking to me. Let's just treat each other as strangers. I expect you to remember that."

Sheila felt a surge of hot anger rush to her head.

"Do you honestly think I wanted to talk to you? There's a limit to how full of yourself you can be, you know..."

Sheila let out a self-deprecating laugh.

Why was she even wasting her breath on this man?

"Sheila? What took you so long?"

Sheila turned her head, a warm smile instantly lighting up her face. "Cecil."

Cecil walked over, gently patting her head. "You don't know your way around here. I was worried you got lost..."

"Cecil Rhodes?"

The voice was laced with surprise, but dripping with absolute malice.

Cecil glanced over and scoffed. "Edmond Halley."

Everyone knew the Rhodes family and the Halley family were sworn enemies.

But the truth was, before Cecil took control, the rivalry hadn't been nearly this toxic.

It was Cecil's utterly ruthless business tactics that had first sparked a massive conflict with Thurston Golding.
