Still You Still Me Still Falling novel Chapter 42

Faith was on her first overseas trip and found everything utterly fascinating. She had tracked down a local specialty restaurant and insisted that Sheila come along for the experience.

But to their surprise, halfway through the meal, Marcus Wagner showed up.

He was their primary investor. Faith had met him before and nervously stood up to greet him as "Mr. Wagner."

Marcus hadn't been able to secure a date with Sheila, so he had deliberately followed them here today.

Faith was just a junior assistant, easy enough for him to dismiss. "You can head back first. I have some business to discuss with Sheila."

Faith instinctively looked at Sheila for guidance.

Not wanting to put her assistant in an awkward position, Sheila softly said, "It's fine. You can head back."

As soon as Faith was gone, Marcus slid into the seat directly across from her.

"Sheila, I've made my intentions perfectly clear. Are you really not going to give me a chance?"

Sheila gave him a freezing glare. "And I believe I've made my answer perfectly clear as well. Regardless of whether I have a boyfriend or not, we simply aren't a match, Mr. Wagner."

"How would you know if you won't even try?" Marcus pushed. "How am I any worse than Simon Sinclair? He's just a naive kid with no money and no influence. What do you even see in him? I'm standing right here, yet you act like I'm invisible."

Before Sheila could even open her mouth to reply, a voice rang out from right behind Marcus.

"They might be fresh out of mirrors in here, but I'm sure you could find a puddle outside to check that inflated ego of yours."

Marcus's face instantly darkened as he leaped out of his chair, turning around with a snarl. "Who the hell do you—C-Cecil... Mr. Rhodes?"

Sheila stood up as well, her eyes wide with shock as she stared at the man.

He was dressed in a deep purple silk shirt, a bold color that very few men could ever pull off.

But his face...

It was a face deeply burned into her childhood memories.

Her eyes lit up with absolute delight. "Cecil?"

Cecil Rhodes raised an eyebrow, a charming smirk forming. "Sheila? It really is you!"

Marcus's complexion turned a sickly shade of gray. He never expected to run into the notorious Cecil Rhodes—the capital's most infamous corporate predator—halfway across the world.
