This woman meant absolutely nothing to him anymore. Back at the airport, laying eyes on her had brutally thrown his head into complete chaos. Yet here and now, the sole emotion dominating his entire being was visceral, unforgiving hatred.
Staring silently into her furious eyes for a few drawn-out seconds, Edmond turned violently on his heel and walked out.-
Cursing quietly, Thurston sprinted to catch up with him.
"Hey, what the hell was that!" Simon squawked defensively before instantly holding his jaw. "Ugh, seriously, my lip is killing me."
"Drop it," she strictly warned, visibly disgusted. "I'll walk over to the pharmacy and get some antiseptic."
Simon was noticeably younger, highly reliant on constantly pestering her for attention. Given his new battle wounds, he predictably weaponized the injury for maximum sympathy. "You have to put it on for me!"
Absolutely ignoring him, she decisively handed off her bag to her exhausted colleague. "Get him a chair and a glass of water. I'll be right back."
Stepping past the heavily tinted doors of the bar, the first thing her eyes locked onto was Edmond's imposing silhouette.
Without granting him the privilege of a second glance, she rigidly diverted her gaze and pivoted down the exact opposite stretch of the pavement.
The wreckage of their romantic history inherently possessed the raw capability to trigger sharp, unavoidable misery. Yet she fully comprehended that her personal trajectory ahead was massive, and she was far more than adequately capable of handling her life entirely solo.
From his stagnant vantage point, his lethal eyes only caught an agonizing glimpse of her soft pink lips as she furiously marched away.
Those lips... used to relentlessly breathe the most devastatingly sweet promises right against his jaw.
And simultaneously, those identical, brutal lips had unapologetically shattered him into a million different fragments with absolute surgical precision.
Watching her fade deeper into the darkness, his aggressively clenched hands physically shook at his sides.
The sound of tires violently screeching disrupted the tension as Thurston aggressively threw his luxury sports car into park at the curb. "Get in."
Edmond climbed into the passenger seat, and Thurston blew out a deeply ragged breath. "You actually gave me a goddamn heart attack. For a second, I truly thought you still—"
"You're incredibly delusional," he instantly snapped, his tone dangerously biting.
