If Thurston had his eyes on Sheila, what chance did he stand?
He hurriedly said, "We're not close. I've only met her twice."
Edmond glanced at him.
Thurston spoke up again. "Are she and that Simon Sinclair really a couple?"
Marcus couldn't gauge Thurston's attitude, so he answered vaguely, "Probably, but I'm not too sure."
"A woman like her won't last long with anyone, if you ask me!"
As soon as the words left Thurston's mouth, Edmond slammed his glass down onto the table with a heavy thud.
Thurston rubbed his nose. "Alright, I won't bring her up."
Marcus looked back and forth between the two men, completely lost.
Edmond turned his gaze to Marcus. "You don't know the first thing about their research, so why are you hovering? Since you invested, let them do their jobs."
Too intimidated to mention anything about pursuing her, Marcus quickly nodded. "Understood."
Seeing that Edmond was actually doing business with Marcus, the others in the room looked at Marcus differently.
Before long, someone invited Marcus over for a game of poker. Soon, only Edmond and Thurston were left in the lounge area.
Thurston suddenly realized something. "I get it! Did you invest in Sheila's project early on just so you could pull the rug out at the last minute and ruin all their hard work?"
Edmond glanced at him.
