Still You Still Me Still Falling novel Chapter 126

Sheila and Tilly played until the sun dipped below the horizon. After gently coaxing the little girl for a bit, Tilly reluctantly planted a kiss on Sheila's cheek before eagerly trotting back over to Edmond.

Sheila, meanwhile, walked off in the opposite direction.

The two adults didn't exchange a single word, let alone a glance.

It was as if pretending the other didn't exist was the only way to honor their previous "deal."

The next morning, Sheila appeared at the jogging path again.

Before long, the little girl was running right up to her.

Sheila glanced to the side, only catching the sight of Edmond's retreating back.

Oh, right.

Fine, they were playing dumb.

It wasn't like it was going to kill her.

During those few days off, Cecil hadn't returned from his trip back home, so Sheila spent every day with Tilly, and the two of them had an amazing time.

On the final day of her vacation, Cecil finally came back.

The man was striking as always, though he looked visibly exhausted.

Traveling back and forth over three or four days, spending nearly two whole days just in transit, and having to immediately jump back into work—it was a miracle he wasn't completely drained.

Sheila felt a pang of sympathy. "Why were you in such a rush to get back?"

"I promised I'd spend the holidays with you," Cecil replied, a hint of regret in his voice. "And now they're almost over."

"It was just a last-minute emergency this time. We have plenty of years ahead to celebrate together," Sheila said. "Go get some rest. You've got dark circles under your eyes."

Cecil headed off to catch up on sleep and adjust to the time zone.

Sheila went out to see Tilly one last time.

Once she went back to work, she'd likely be buried in it.

Besides, Tilly was definitely going to head back to their home country soon.

Once they were both back, it would be incredibly difficult to see each other again.

This time, Sheila didn't even bother coming up with an excuse. She realized that when it came to soothing Tilly, Edmond was far more experienced than she was.

He spun lies effortlessly, completely second nature to him.

So why should Sheila stress herself out trying to explain?

Still, as the sun began to set and she figured Cecil would be waking up soon, she knew it was time to say goodbye.

Regardless of everything, she had to tell the little girl.

When she finally broke the news, Tilly simply nodded. "I know!"
