Leo glanced at her.
He didn't cling to her affectionately like he had just a few days ago.
He just muttered a cold, "I know."
Willow's fingers stalled momentarily.
But she kept her smile perfectly intact.
Lawrence took the entire exchange in, a slight frown creasing his brow, though he remained silent.
On the way to the science museum, Leo sat in the backseat, clutching the aerospace book Wren had given him.
The car was completely silent.
Lawrence rarely chatted with his son. He racked his brain for a long time before finally asking, "Do you want to see the rockets?"
Leo nodded. "Yeah."
"What else do you want to see?"
Leo looked up. "Dad, don't you know?"
Lawrence froze.
Leo lowered his head and muttered, "Mom knows. I like rockets, and I like the space station, and I really like the hall where you get to simulate driving a lunar rover."
The words dropped like a moderately sized stone right into Lawrence's chest.
He gripped the steering wheel, his knuckles turning slightly white.
"I'll know from now on."
Leo didn't reply.
A young child couldn't grasp the underlying tone of compensation in that sentence.
He only knew that for things like this, his mom never used the phrase 'from now on.'
His mom had always known.
Meanwhile, in the Stellaris Medical laboratory, Wren was completely focused on the simulation waveforms displayed on the monitor.
The seventh set of dynamic compensation models had already run three cycles.
The first two cycles showed slight data drift.
Right before the results of the third cycle came out, the entire lab fell completely silent.
Zeke Zeller, a junior engineer, couldn't help but whisper, "If this one fails too, we'll have to tear down the whole model and start over."
Wren didn't even look at him.
Her eyes were locked onto the real-time curve on the right side of the screen.
"It won't."
Zeke blinked in surprise. "Are you that sure, Wren?"
Wren replied, "The peak deviation in the second cycle wasn't a flaw in the model. It was because the sampling noise at the input end hadn't been fully filtered out. After the corrections made in the third cycle, as long as there's no hardware error, it should compress right into the target range."
Her voice was rock steady.
So steady that the few people standing around her instinctively quieted down to watch.
A few seconds later, the screen refreshed.
The waveform curve gradually stabilized.
The error margin locked firmly within the safety threshold.
Zeke practically jumped in the air. "We nailed it!"
The room erupted in a collective sigh of relief.
