Sign the Papers Mr. Langford novel Chapter 32

But the moment she simply detached herself from her role in the Langford family, he felt she was crossing the line.

Wren didn't argue.

She pushed the project file across the table, her tone professional and distant.

"Mr. Langford, we are here today to discuss the pilot program. If you wish to discuss personal matters, please schedule another time."

Lawrence's eyes darkened dangerously.

The tension in the conference room instantly tightened.

Julian stepped in smoothly. "Mr. Langford, Stellaris Medical is working on a tight schedule. The hospital has already approved the first batch of pilots. If Langford Medical plans to coordinate on the equipment side, it would be best to confirm the interface standards today."

Lawrence looked at him.

Julian's expression remained mild, but he didn't back down.

After a few seconds, Lawrence coldly withdrew his gaze.

"Begin."

Once the meeting started, Wren slipped entirely into work mode.

She didn't look at Lawrence again, nor did she entertain his personal remarks.

Every time the Langford team drifted off-topic, she deftly pulled them back to the core issue.

The longer Lawrence listened, the tighter his brow furrowed.

He had to admit that Wren truly understood this project.

She wasn't just a figurehead.

She wasn't just trying to prove a point.

She knew the risk factors of the equipment better than many of the technical directors sitting in the room.

But the more obvious this became, the more uncomfortable he felt.

Over the past six years, why had she never told him?

Or rather, maybe she had.

He just hadn't listened.

By the time the meeting wrapped up, it was almost six o'clock.

Wren gathered her documents and stood up to leave.

Lawrence suddenly spoke. "Let's go home and have dinner together tonight."

Wren paused.

She looked up. "I have plans."

Lawrence's tone grew rigid. "Leo is waiting for you."

Those words did send a sharp pang through Wren's chest.

But it only lasted a second.

She looked at Lawrence and said calmly, "I'm picking him up for dinner on Wednesday. We've already agreed on that."

"Are you insisting on treating your relationship with your son like visitation rights?"

"It wasn't my choice to make it this way," Wren said softly, yet with absolute clarity. "I have to step out of the Langford family to finally be a real mother."

Lawrence didn't understand.

Or rather, he didn't want to understand.

He only felt that every single word Wren was saying right now was pushing his limits.

"Wren, don't regret this."

Wren looked at him and suddenly smiled.

"Rest assured, Mr. Langford."

She said, "My only regret lately is that I didn't allow myself to be happy sooner."

With that, she picked up her files and turned to leave.

Out in the hallway, Willow was just walking out of the small conference room.
