Sign the Papers Mr. Langford novel Chapter 128

Wren's grip on the marker tightened.

That was the harshest reality of the situation.

They had to control the narrative while simultaneously pushing the paperwork. Stellaris didn't possess Langford's massive PR machine, nor did they have the luxury of leveraging endless hospital partnerships on a whim.

She used to believe that if a product was objectively superior, it would eventually shine through.

Now she understood that projects weren't solely built in laboratories; they were molded on conference tables, shaped by public opinion, and warped by conflicting interests.

"We'll finalize the paperwork," Wren said decisively. "Tonight, we rewrite the minor protection protocols and the data revocation mechanisms. As for the pilot hospitals, I'll negotiate with them personally."

Phoebe looked at her skeptically. "Can you handle all that?"

Wren didn't try to play the hero.

She glanced down at her phone.

There was a message from Ms. Miller on her screen.

[Leo's mood was okay this afternoon, but he's been quite withdrawn. He asked if he could call you tonight. Is that alright?]

Wren stared at the message for a long time.

Then she replied: [Yes. But if he just wants to make sure I'm around, you don't need to keep him on the line too long. Just tell him I'll always answer.]

After hitting send, she looked up.

"Even if I can't, we have to split the load," she told the room. "I'm not running this project alone."

Phoebe let out a brief laugh. "Finally talking some sense."

Maya breathed a sigh of relief. "Alright, I'll go brief the tech team."

Julian didn't leave immediately.

He waited until the others filed out before asking quietly, "Are you exhausted?"

Wren stared at the words on the whiteboard.

Patients, Authorization, Consequences.

She pictured Leo's red-rimmed eyes, recalled Margaret Langford telling her in the nursing home that the Langfords owed her, and thought of Vivian Vance's name being dragged out from the dust.

Of course she was exhausted.

But this time, she didn't want to bury her exhaustion under a fake smile.

"A little," she admitted.

Julian placed his cup of coffee in front of her.

"Then take a sip," he said. "You don't have to fight every battle standing up."
