She's Too Busy Winning to Watch Him Cry novel Chapter 715

Rowan Jameson lay unconscious on the sprawling leather sofa in the private club, completely wasted. His tie had been tossed onto the coffee table, and his expensive watch sat unclasped next to a glass.

Zara Somerset stood nearby, her heart pounding frantically against her ribs as she unconsciously inched closer. Beneath the heavy scent of alcohol, a crisp, distinctly masculine fragrance washed over her, throwing her senses into total chaos.

She leaned over, closing the distance little by little. Her gaze traced the sharp bridge of his nose before slowly dropping to rest on his thin lips. The desire she had suppressed for so long surged up, and as if possessed, she fluttered her eyes shut and leaned in for a kiss.

"I knew you were up to no good."

Julian Shaw's amused, drawling voice drifted over from a short distance away.

Zara froze, jolting backward as if she had been burned. She stumbled half a step away, her cheeks burning with instant humiliation. In her panic, she knocked over the glass on the table, completely unaware that Rowan's watch had also been sent crashing to the floor.

She stared as Julian sat up straight, watching her with a mocking half-smile. He wasn't drunk in the slightest.

"You... you tricked me," Zara stammered, her voice trembling in shock. Consumed by fear and embarrassment, she just wanted to flee this nightmare of a room.

"I didn't trick you," Julian said lightly. "I never said a word."

Zara turned on her heel to bolt, stumbling backward in a frantic rush, when a sharp crunch echoed from beneath her shoe.

Rowan's Patek Philippe watch, worth millions of dollars, had landed directly in her path. The stiletto heel of her shoe had stomped right onto it, shattering the crystal face and cracking the expensive casing into pieces.

Time seemed to freeze.

All the color drained from Zara's face. Her expression crumbled into utter disbelief as she stood rooted to the spot, paralyzed.

"Wow, you've really done it now," Julian said, his tone rising in amusement as he reached over to shove the man on the sofa. "Rowan... wake up. Your little secretary just made a huge mess."

Rowan remained unresponsive. Just then, Wesley Wade walked back into the room. Taking in the bizarre atmosphere and Zara's uncontrollable trembling, he frowned. "What happened?"
