Jasmine's escape plan was aimed at an island nation in Southeast Asia, using a smuggling route to make her getaway.
First, she would use Lyra and Pip as hostages to force Rowan to release her imprisoned family members, while simultaneously extorting him for enough cash and overseas assets.
Once her family converged on the yacht, they would immediately abandon the conspicuous luxury vessel, transfer to a small smuggling speedboat, and go ashore to hide in a remote island village, where Thomas and his wife were already stationed to receive them.
Finn paced around the yacht's deck, noticing a spare inflatable rubber dinghy secured to the stern. He paused for a moment before heading back toward the bow.
"Finn, go wait for your sister. She'll be here soon," Agnes urged.
"You go receive them, Grandma," Finn replied. "I need to stay in the helm to familiarize myself with the navigation route and the control panel so we can go full throttle once she's here."
"Alright, we'll go then."
Tabitha and Elara flanked the old woman on the pier, craning their necks toward the end of the road. "Grandma, can Jasmine really get away safely?" Elara asked, her voice laced with anxiety. "Rowan is ruthless. What if he refuses to let her go..."
Agnes straightened her spine, a glint of sheer arrogance in her aged eyes. "What are you panicking for? Once Rowan gets here, I'll be the one dealing with him. I've been playing these games since before you were born. Manipulating his weakness will be a walk in the park."
Tabitha glanced back at the luxury yacht anchored on the water. "No matter how powerful Rowan is, he wouldn't dare gamble with his wife and son's lives. He'll hand Jasmine over obediently."
"I know exactly what I'm doing," the old woman replied flatly, her eyes fixing back on the distant headlights approaching on the road.
The Jameson Residence was much further from the harbor than the prison. After a grueling twenty minutes of anxious waiting, headlights finally pierced the night, rapidly closing the distance. Seeing this, the old woman quickly turned and boarded the ship, lowering her voice into an urgent hiss. "Prepare to set sail immediately!"
"Finn, start the engine!"
"Jonathan, drag that bitch out here."
Agnes orchestrated everything with chilling efficiency.
By the time Rowan's car screeched to a halt, the yacht's engines were already humming, just waiting for Jasmine to board before tearing off into the night.
When Jasmine was roughly hauled out of the car without a shred of gentleness, Agnes watched from the deck and shouted, "Rowan, you ungrateful bastard! The one who belonged by your side was Jasmine. It was Lyra who wedged herself in, stealing Jasmine's place, stealing the marriage that should have been hers, the child that should have been hers, and the devotion that belonged to her!"
"If you don't want anything to happen to your wife and kid, let Jasmine go right now!"
Rowan completely ignored the old woman's threats. His gaze swept over the deck, landing on the unconscious Wesley being dragged out by Jonathan. His thin lips pressed into a cold line. "Where are my wife and son?!"
Agnes had the exact same question, shooting a quick look at Jonathan. No matter. She would use Wesley to break Rowan's psychological defenses first.
