She's Too Busy Winning to Watch Him Cry novel Chapter 683

Rowan dialed Lyra's number three times in rapid succession, but the line only returned a cold, empty dial tone. No one answered. Wesley wasn't picking up either.

He immediately called the landline at Blackwood Manor. A confused maid answered, reporting that Lyra had gone out and still hadn't returned.

As Rowan hung up the phone, a deafening ringing filled his ears, and all the blood rushed to his head.

"Where are they?"

The dishes on the round dining table were still steaming. Rowan closed the distance between him and Jasmine in a few large strides, his massive hand shooting out to ruthlessly grip her throat.

Plates and bowls were swept off the table by his arm, shattering across the floor. Exquisite food and hot soup spilled everywhere, instantly turning the lavish dinner into a disaster zone.

A terrifying, bloodthirsty red flooded Rowan's eyes, the fury in his chest threatening to burn away the last of his sanity. Only he knew that beneath the explosive anger lay a suffocating wave of regret. He had seen through Jasmine long ago—knew she was a venomous snake baring her fangs—yet he had repeatedly held back and spared her.

It had all been driven by his own selfish desire to keep Lyra.

In the past, no matter which wealthy heiress he socialized with, Lyra remained as unbothered as a stagnant well. She never fought for him, never got jealous, acting as if he were completely dispensable. If he hadn't forced himself into her life, Lyra would have quietly gone on with her days, eating, working, and never sparing him a single thought. Only Jasmine had the power to provoke a reaction from her. Harboring that ridiculous, twisted hope, he had kept Jasmine around, eventually letting her off the hook simply because she had hooked up with Caspian.

But all that overthinking had simply resulted in him hand-delivering his greatest weakness right into the viper's mouth.

"Rowan! Let her go! You're going to choke her to death!"

Seeing Jasmine's face turn a bruised purple as she thrashed for air, Mr. Sutton and Charles scrambled forward, desperately grabbing Rowan's arms from both sides.

"Don't do anything rash," Mr. Sutton pleaded. "She's not worth dirtying your hands over."

"Lyra and the baby are waiting for you to find them!" Charles barked, using every ounce of his strength to pry Rowan's tightening fingers apart.

Panting heavily, Rowan slowly loosened his grip. Jasmine's body slid to the floor. His bloodshot eyes remained fixated on her as she collapsed, coughing violently.

Victoria, Vivienne, and the others were completely stunned. They weren't shocked that Rowan wanted to strangle Jasmine—they were utterly horrified by Jasmine acting like a lawless psychopath.

"Rowan, hurry up and get her family released. The baby's safety is all that matters right now," Victoria urged frantically. She then turned her sharp gaze on Jasmine. "As long as your family is released, you'll tell us where Lyra and Pip are, right?"
