She's Too Busy Winning to Watch Him Cry novel Chapter 674

A few days ago, Victoria had caught the flu. Worried that the bug might spread to young Pip, Rowan had strictly forbidden any visits to the Jameson Residence. Lyra only found out her mother-in-law had been sick today, casually mentioned by their maid, Zola.

When Zola disappeared into the kitchen, Lyra shot Rowan a reproachful look. "Why didn't you tell me your mother had the flu?"

"Pip's immune system is still developing, and her strain was highly contagious," Rowan explained smoothly. "If you went over there and caught it, you could have brought it back to the baby. It wasn't worth the risk. He hates needles enough as it is. We've both seen him cry until he's out of breath over a simple vaccine. I wasn't about to put him through that again."

"I still could have had someone drop off a care package," Lyra argued.

Their quiet bickering was cut short as Charles and Victoria Jameson walked in. Charles immediately made a beeline for Pip, scooping the baby up and cooing, trying to coax out a 'Grandpa.'

Victoria chuckled warmly. "Alright, Charles, the baby is hungry. Let's sit down and eat."

Charles carried Pip into the dining room, where a maid quickly set up a high chair. The family took their respective seats around the table.

Lyra took the initiative. "Victoria, I only just found out you were sick. I feel terrible for not visiting or checking in. We have some excellent health supplements at home that Grandpa Alistair gave us. I'll have the staff pack them up and send them over to help you rebuild your strength."

Victoria waved off the concern. "I'm already perfectly fine, Lyra. You don't need to go to any trouble."

She naturally steered the conversation to her recovery, bringing up Caspian. "This flu was incredibly draining, but thankfully, Caspian was there for me, even from abroad. He couldn't be here in person, but he constantly checked in. He tracked my daily medication, monitored my diet, and even made sure the house was properly ventilated. He managed every little detail so perfectly. I wouldn't have bounced back this quickly without his dedication."

"Oh, he also expedited some prescription medication from overseas for me," Victoria added. "Rowan, I had him ship it to your corporate office. Bring it over when it arrives."

Rowan calmly continued eating, completely ignoring her request.

Lyra lowered her eyes, remaining silent, drawing a curious glance even from Zola across the room.

Victoria kept her hopeful, pleading gaze firmly locked on her daughter-in-law.

Lyra finally relented. "It's fine. Let Caspian come back."

Relief washed over Victoria's face as she smiled brightly. "Thank you, Lyra. You're always so reasonable. Don't worry—after everything that happened, I won't let him anywhere near Blackwood Manor."

Rowan frowned deeply. Later, on the drive home, he couldn't hold back. "Why did you agree to that? You know exactly how Victoria operates. It's just a guilt trip. And the medication? Do you really think the Jameson Residence doesn't receive international shipping? She purposely sent it to my office to force the issue."

Lyra pursed her lips. "Victoria put me on the spot... I'm just wondering, is he coming back alone, or is he bringing someone with him?"
