She's Too Busy Winning to Watch Him Cry novel Chapter 643

The doctor turned and disappeared back into the operating room.

Outside the heavy doors, Rowan stood completely paralyzed. The color drained from his face, and the blood roaring in his ears turned to ice.

A suffocating wave of despair crashed over him. His mind spiraled into the darkest, most terrifying possibilities.

If the baby didn't survive...

He wouldn't just lose his child. He would lose the love of his life.

Lyra had wanted to leave him for a long time. The only reason she was still trapped in this marriage was because of the baby.

The sheer magnitude of that fear shattered Rowan's iron-clad composure. He swayed violently, his legs giving out beneath him as he collapsed heavily onto the cold hospital tiles.

Rowan had done terrible things in his life. He was ruthless in the corporate world, destroying rival companies without a second thought and tearing down powerful families overnight. He had always accepted that karma would eventually come for him. But the thought of that karma falling onto the shoulders of his unborn child was something he simply could not endure.

"Rowan!"

"Mr. Jameson!" Wesley gasped, rushing forward.

Victoria, who had just arrived at the hospital, saw her eldest son slumped on the floor. Her heart broke. She hurried over to help him. "Rowan, get up..."

Andrea rushed forward alongside Victoria and Wesley, pulling him to his feet.

Rowan's knuckles were stark white as he maintained his iron grip on Caspian's shirt. It wasn't that his heart had softened. It wasn't that he was willing to let this go. But this wasn't the time for a reckoning. He needed to be standing right outside that door when they finally gave him news about Lyra and his child.

Moments later, the heavy doors opened. The attending physician stepped out, the tension in his shoulders visibly lessened. "It's a miracle. The severe fright triggered intense Braxton Hicks contractions, but she isn't in active labor. However, from this moment until she reaches full term, she is not allowed to leave this bed. She will remain hospitalized, strictly monitored, and given daily progesterone shots. We need to process her long-term admission immediately."

Rowan's head snapped up. Relief flooded his bloodshot eyes, and he bowed deeply. "Whatever you say. Thank you, doctor. Thank you."

Caspian wiped the blood trailing from the corner of his mouth, letting out a massive exhale.

Lyra had once given him the same warmth he thought he only found in Jasmine.

He realized, with absolute certainty, that he never actually wanted her to die.
