She's Too Busy Winning to Watch Him Cry novel Chapter 601

Rowan walked in. Just as he stepped up beside Lyra and before he could even speak, she sharply turned her face away to avoid his gaze, spun on her heel, and hurried out of the study.

Rowan stopped in his tracks, looking back just in time to watch her leave.

Waylon took in the entire scene. The corner of his mouth twitched upward in a smirk as he opened the file next to him to discuss business. "Regarding the Westside Airport Industrial Park Project..."

"Hold on," Rowan cut him off abruptly. Dropping the brief command, he rushed out, unable to just let it go.

Waylon gripped the file in his hand tightly and scoffed.

Rowan hurried to the bedroom and found her in the bathroom.

Lyra was standing there alone, her shoulders slightly tense.

"What's wrong?" Rowan asked.

Lyra hadn't expected him to follow her.

Her expression was still visibly clouded by the sting of Waylon's harsh words.

Rowan pulled her into his arms. "Don't bottle it up. If something's upsetting you, just say it. If you're unhappy, the baby will be unhappy too. Your emotions aren't just yours anymore; whatever you're feeling, the baby feels it all."

Lyra struggled slightly, trying to pull away from his embrace.

Rowan rested his chin on the top of her head, his voice muffled. "I feel like crying."

Lyra froze. She quickly pushed herself out of his arms and looked up, studying his face closely, thinking she had misheard him. "What did you just say?"

Rowan pulled a card from his pocket and pressed it into her hand. "This is the betrothal gift Mom declined. I deposited it under your name. Whenever you're bored, just buy yourself some jewelry or whatever you like."

"Why are you giving me so much?" Lyra felt a surge of anxiety clutching the card. He was about to pour a massive amount of capital into building his new tech group headquarters—this was a critical time for his finances.

She couldn't help but wonder: in this lifetime, could Jameson Group end up being the one with a ruptured supply chain, on the brink of bankruptcy?

"You're working so hard carrying my baby. It's only right that I treat you well."

After properly soothing Lyra's mood, Rowan finally headed back to the study.

He sat back down to hash out the details of the Westside Airport Industrial Park plot with Waylon. Waylon did most of the talking, while Rowan kept his responses brief and to the point.

Once the business was settled, Rowan stated flatly, "From now on, bring any business matters straight to the office. It's not convenient to host you at my home."
