"Your aunt has lost her mind..."
Andrea Nash tapped Harry Fairchild's soft little nose, then carried him into the bedroom and locked the door tight. A moment later, the screech of tires braking echoed from the courtyard. Peering down through the second-floor floor-to-ceiling windows, she watched clearly as a group of bodyguards dragged Lyra away.
Caleb and Kayla rushed forward from both sides to stop them, but they were hopelessly outnumbered and couldn't halt the men for a second.
Inside the room, Andrea simply lowered her eyes, pretending she hadn't seen or heard a thing. She stayed quiet, guarding the twins, refusing to go downstairs and intervene.
Watching her daughter being taken by force, Delilah suffered a total breakdown. She screamed at Rowan, accusing him of being a ruthless tyrant with zero regard for their families' history.
Rowan stood his ground, a suffocating aura of ice radiating from him. He no longer cared about making a good impression on Delilah. His tone was indifferent and uncompromising. "Mrs. Fairchild, I have a recording of Lyra agreeing to my terms. Whether you want to call the cops or run to that lawyer, Frederick Parker, be my guest."
With that, he slid into the back of the last black sedan, and the convoy quickly sped away from the Fairchild estate.
Delilah completely collapsed.
Her legs gave out, leaving her leaning heavily against the wall as Kayla rushed to support her.
When Delilah turned and saw Andrea finally coming downstairs, she directed all her fury at the woman. "You work for Rowan!" she shrieked. "You watched them drag Lyra away! Why didn't you come down and help?!"
Andrea looked conflicted. "Ma'am, I couldn't leave my post. The twins need constant supervision upstairs. It's too dangerous to leave them alone."
Drained of all energy, Delilah slumped onto the sofa. Kayla quickly handed her some tissues, whispering continuous words of comfort.
"Is there anyone who can keep Rowan in check?"
Andrea spoke calmly. "There's no other way right now. We should go directly to Charles. Have him step in and deal with that... with Rowan."
"Mom, what are you talking about?" Maisie shook her head frantically to clear it up. "Rowan is dating Lyra."
Vivienne exhaled in relief. Thank God her nephew was straight. Otherwise, she would have torn Zane to pieces.
"Wait, who did you say?" Vivienne snapped back to reality.
"Lyra."
"Arthur's daughter again?!" Vivienne's voice skyrocketed, her face contorting with rage. "She's trying to drain the Jameson family dry!"
"Come on, we're going to see Charles."
Vivienne set down her tea after barely a sip and stood up. She arrived at the Jameson Residence ahead of Delilah, seeking out Charles immediately.
