She's Too Busy Winning to Watch Him Cry novel Chapter 463

Lyra had been under house arrest for two full days with absolutely no access to her phone. Unreachable and missing, her disappearance sent her family into a panic, prompting a frantic Caleb to show up at Rowan's doorstep.

Faced with Caleb's demanding questions, Rowan maintained a cool, detached tone, claiming Lyra wasn't in his house.

Caleb didn't believe a word of it. Throwing manners to the wind, he shoved past and stormed upstairs.

Andrea, who had been keeping watch in the bedroom, was caught off guard by Caleb's aggressive intrusion. She hastily shook the sleeping Lyra awake. While Lyra was still groggy, Andrea yanked her into a small adjoining closet, and the two of them hid behind the door.

Footsteps thundered closer from downstairs. As Caleb moved from room to room, his voice rang out, "Lyra! Lyra!"

The familiar voice pierced through Lyra's haze, waking her instantly. She instinctively opened her mouth to call out to Caleb, but Andrea quickly clamped a hand firmly over her nose and mouth.

Warm breath brushed against her ear as Andrea whispered urgently, "Hold it in. Just endure it a little longer."

Lyra didn't understand why she was being told to stay quiet, but Andrea had never done anything to hurt her, so she stopped struggling.

Noticing that Caleb was still searching the rooms further down the hall, Andrea murmured, "I saw Wesley buying condoms for Mr. Jameson yesterday."

"When I was assigned to you, you'd secretly buy contraceptives the second you were away from him. But now he's taking precautions himself. Do you know what that means?"

Andrea didn't know whether to treat it as good news or bad. "It means Mr. Jameson has changed his stance. He doesn't want you to have his child anymore."

Lyra's eyes widened slightly.

A wave of relief actually washed over her. That was perfect. She had never wanted to carry Rowan's child anyway. Bringing Pip back into the world never required Rowan's involvement, and a cold-blooded, obsessive man like him would make a terrible father regardless.

Andrea kept her hand tight over Lyra's lips, ensuring not a single sound slipped out. "This is a good thing for you. You'll be free soon, which is a blessing in disguise. If you just lay low for a few days, he'll stop chasing after you. But if you leave with your brother now, his obsession might flare up again."

Her heart warming, Lyra immediately threw her arms around Andrea in a tight hug, whispering, "Thank you."

Not long after, the bedroom door swung open.

The moment Rowan stepped inside, his expression darkened. Seeing two figures embracing in the room, and taking in Andrea's typically masculine attire, his reflexes kicked in. He violently shoved Andrea away.

Only after he registered that the subordinate was a woman did Rowan speak, his voice tight. "Is it absolutely necessary for you to dress like that?"

"It's not my first day wearing this," Andrea replied evenly, steadying herself. Her androgynous style was nothing new; it was how she always dressed.

Seeing her boss's hostile reaction, Andrea suddenly felt less certain about the comforting words she had just offered Lyra. This man's true intentions were entirely impossible to read.

Lyra hurried to support Andrea, panic swimming in her eyes. "Are you okay?"
