"Miss Fairchild, I've worked under Mr. Jameson for many years. Him indulging you doesn't necessarily mean he trusts you. In his eyes, a passionate release in bed is probably just infinitely more productive than arguing with you."
Lyra's mind was in utter chaos. She lowered her head slightly, her long hair slipping silently down her cheeks. "Are you saying he's only doing all this just to sleep with me..."
"No, Miss Fairchild. I'm simply saying that right now, Mr. Jameson might still harbor some guilt for taking you and inadvertently causing your severe car accident. But please, you absolutely cannot keep going down this path..."
"Mr. Jameson might not have heard your conversation with Zane, but I heard every word loud and clear. If he had heard it, he would never have let you..."
Before Andrea could finish her sentence, a pale-faced Lyra began shoving her toward the door.
"Get out... if you aren't going to help me, then don't say another word."
Unable to offer any real comfort, Andrea finally left. Lyra sank to the floor, hugging her knees, her eyes rimmed with red. Her face remained a ghastly shade of pale.
Pausing, Andrea looked back and returned to add, "Miss Fairchild, things will eventually work themselves out. Being with Mr. Jameson honestly isn't a bad fate."
"It's terrible. It couldn't possibly be worse," Lyra whispered.
She had already tried it once in her past life.
As if recalling a dark memory, the look in Lyra's eyes gradually returned to a biting cold. "You really are his loyal dog. Whatever. Even if I die, it's none of your business! Just leave."

Meanwhile, Rowan hadn't even arrived at the office by ten o'clock, causing his scheduled meetings to be indefinitely delayed.
When Rowan finally arrived, he went straight into his meetings. Returning to his office afterward, he issued an order: "Pull the financials, assets, and liabilities for Jasmine's company and bring them to me."
An assistant brought the documents over shortly after. Rowan scanned them briefly before declaring, "Bankrupt Jasmine's company within two weeks."
Both Wesley and the other assistant froze in their tracks.
Rowan looked up. "Is there a problem?"
It was already late afternoon by the time Lyra finally returned home.
Seeing her daughter stumble in after staying out all night, Delilah was furious.
"Lyra, what kind of boyfriend have you gotten yourself mixed up with?"
"Is the man you found incredibly old, or far too young? Do you think I'll object, and that's why you refuse to tell me?"
Lyra wasn't in the mood to argue. "Where is your imagination going?"
With one glance, Delilah noticed that her daughter's clothes were entirely unfamiliar. They looked incredibly expensive and were made of high-end fabric she hadn't seen before. They were obviously newly bought by this mystery man.
Terrified that her daughter was going astray, Delilah's heart skipped a beat. "Is he a wealthy older man?"
"Mom, I've met him, and he's quite handsome and highly capable." Caleb suddenly walked into the room, shooting a highly complex look at Lyra before adding, "You can put your mind at ease."

The readers' comments on the novel: She's Too Busy Winning to Watch Him Cry
What Rowan did in his past life was horrific, and I’m not excusing it, but he truly did everything he could in his second life to repent and atone for what he did to Lyra. At some point, there has to be room for forgiveness and grace. If someone spends their entire life trying to make amends and become a better person, then what does redemption mean if we never allow them a chance to be forgiven? Even someone who has done terrible things deserves the possibility of redemption, and honestly, I want Rowan to be happy too!...
