When Lyra arrived at the hotel's top-floor restaurant, it was only nine-forty.
Zane's flight landed at ten, and it would take about twenty minutes to drive from the airport to the hotel. The restaurant was open until 2 AM, so there was plenty of time.
She sat quietly flipping through the menu. Several men approached her for her number, but she politely turned them all down. Exactly at ten, she called the waiter over and ordered a few signature dishes in advance.
Twenty minutes later, a travel-worn figure pushed open the doors and approached. Lyra looked up, slowly stood, and a smile rippled across her lips. Almost everyone in the room instinctively looked over at Zane—after all, he had kept such a stunning woman waiting for so long.
He really was handsome.
Zane sat down, still breathing a little heavily from rushing over. His eyes landed on Lyra's face, and he spoke softly, "Have you been waiting long?"
Lyra shook her head. "Not bad, I just got here too."
"Long time no see. You... look like you've lost a little weight."
Zane smiled. There was exhaustion in his eyes, but they were incredibly gentle. "I rushed all the way here, but still made you wait. How have you been these past six months?"
"I've been good," Lyra said, handing him a glass of water. "The long flight must have been exhausting, right? Have some water first."
Zane quickly took a sip, then put the glass down and picked up the menu. "Dinner is on me tonight. What do you want to eat, Lyra?"
"I already ordered a few things, see if there's anything else you want."
"What did you get?"
When Zane asked, Lyra proactively stood up, walked gracefully over, and sat down next to him.
Zane's breath hitched, his gaze uncontrollably locking onto her. He was actually a bit dazed for a moment—she was so radiantly beautiful that even such a casual closeness made the atmosphere instantly dizzying.
The moment their eyes locked, Lyra's fingers gripping her bag tightened sharply. Shock was written all over her face, and her voice grew colder. "He's your cousin?"
Zane was confused. "You guys know each other?"
"Doesn't he only have one cousin, Maisie?"
Zane didn't expect Lyra to actually know that side of the family, so he didn't hide it. "Maisie is my half-sister."
Lyra had no idea Zane was Vivienne's stepson! A proud woman like Vivienne actually married a man who had been married before!
She was completely dumbfounded.
Rowan sat down opposite them. He looked at Lyra with an incredibly calm expression, but Lyra felt the hairs on the back of her neck stand up, her scalp going completely numb.

The readers' comments on the novel: She's Too Busy Winning to Watch Him Cry
What Rowan did in his past life was horrific, and I’m not excusing it, but he truly did everything he could in his second life to repent and atone for what he did to Lyra. At some point, there has to be room for forgiveness and grace. If someone spends their entire life trying to make amends and become a better person, then what does redemption mean if we never allow them a chance to be forgiven? Even someone who has done terrible things deserves the possibility of redemption, and honestly, I want Rowan to be happy too!...
