The Lockridge Group.
Gavin Lockridge was getting ripped to shreds.
"A two-year exclusivity contract for a fertilizer that has absolutely nothing to do with our business? Fifteen million dollars... Are you out of your mind?!"
When the exorbitant purchase agreement was violently slammed onto the desk in front of him, Gavin stared at it in pure bewilderment.
"No, wait, Grandpa... what are you talking about? What fertilizer?"
Gavin asked, his eyes wide with confusion.
He genuinely had no idea what was happening.
He had been in the middle of a golf date with two gorgeous women when Holden's men hauled him back to the office.
The second he stepped through the door, the screaming began.
For two agonizing hours...
For two agonizing hours, Holden had been tearing into him.
It was as if a dam had burst; his grandfather had listed every single mistake Gavin had ever made, starting from when he used to wet the bed as a toddler, all the way up to the present day.
And Gavin still had no clue what he had actually done wrong.
Finally, Holden revealed the core issue.
But Gavin was still hopelessly lost.
The Lockridge family didn't grow crops. Why on earth would they buy organic fertilizer?
Thoroughly baffled, Gavin picked up the contract from the floor and flipped through the pages.
It was, without a doubt, a high-priced buyout contract for Apex Organics' Type-L Bio-Fertilizer.
Just as he opened his mouth to ask what this was all about, his eyes landed on the final page.
There, in clear ink, was the signature.
Gavin Lockridge.
His name.
His handwriting.
"I... I signed this?"
Gavin stammered, completely stunned.
Gavin pleaded desperately, clutching the contract.
"You know I barely handle the day-to-day operations anyway! Why would I suddenly buy a mountain of fertilizer? It makes no sense..."
He pounded a fist against his forehead, trying to jog his memory, but he couldn't recall a single moment where he had signed such a document.
"Dominic, do you have any idea what's going on?"
Gavin finally asked, out of options.
Dominic just shook his head, looking equally puzzled.
"How would I know? Gavin, Seraphina is the one who brings you all your paperwork to sign!"
Hearing this, Holden immediately ordered Seraphina Vance into the office.
But Seraphina denied any knowledge of the contract, swearing up and down she had nothing to do with it.
"Fine. Great... You're all just trying to put me in an early grave. A fifteen-million-dollar contract, and you're telling me not a single one of you knows anything about it?!"
Holden's voice shook with unadulterated fury.
"I might be old, but I'm not senile. There's no way this happened without someone on the inside conspiring with Apex Organics!"
