Request: Omega's Fury: The Tale of the Shadow Sister novel Chapter 76

Investigation-2

“Of course, my son,” came the prompt reply.

Moments later, Ronald entered Markus’s private study. Even in his later years, Ronald was an imposing man, his presence commanding respect. His silver hair was neatly combed, and his piercing blue eyes, identical to his son’s, held a depth of wisdom and experience. The father and

son exchanged warm greetings, a hug that spoke of the deep bond between them.

Markus gestured for his father to sit. “I need to brief you on the events of today,” he began, recounting the story of Elora, her hardships, and the surprising confrontation with Alpha Carter. He

spoke of Azriel’s second chance mate, their son, and the unjust treatment Elora had endured.

When Markus finished, Ronald was pensive, his brow furrowed in thought. “I’m happy for Azriel,” he

said finally. “That man has endured more than his fair share of suffering. He deserves this

happiness. But I’m deeply disappointed in Alpha Carter and Alice. His actions are disgraceful.”

Markus nodded, his expression serious. “There’s another matter I wanted to discuss with you. Have you ever investigated the contents of the terror list during your reign?”

Ronald looked intrigued. “The terror list? Not in great detail. It was a mechanism for maintaining

order, a way to ensure those who posed a real threat to the packs were apprehended fast. Why do

you ask?”

Markus leaned forward, his voice low. “I’ve come across a case where a pack put someone on the

list out of pure ego and malice. Someone who was placed on the terror list by her own pack for

reasons that were entirely personal and unjust.”

Ronald’s eyes widened, a mix of shock and anger flashing across his features. “That’s disturbing.

The terror list was never meant to be used as a tool for personal vendettas. It was meant to

protect our people from genuine threats, not to punish innocent individuals.”

“Exactly,” Markus agreed. “I believe we need to review the cases on the terror list, to ensure that

only those who truly belong there remain.”

Ronald nodded slowly, his expression resolute. “I agree. This is a matter of justice and honor. We

cannot allow the terror list to be misused. I will support you in this endeavor, Markus. It’s time to correct these wrongs, if any.”

Markus felt a surge of gratitude for his father’s unwavering support. “Thank you, Father.”

Ronald reached out, placing a hand on his son’s shoulder. “You’re a good king, Markus. And an even better man. I’m proud of you. I just hope that the Moon Goddess will bless you with a good half.”

Markus smiled, the weight of his responsibilities feeling a little lighter with his father’s support. “Thank you, Father. Let’s get to work.”

Markus knew he had to tread carefully. Any sudden interest in Elora’s past might raise suspicion. He called for his Beta, Fabien, to join him. Fabien was efficient and discreet, qualities Markus valued greatly.

“Fabien,” Markus began, “I need you to compile a list of names from each pack’s terror list. Start with the Black Forest pack.”

Fabien nodded, not questioning his King request. “I’ll get on it right away, my king.”

Markus spent the next few hours poring over the list Fabien had assembled. His eyebrows furrowed in concern when he noticed Elora’s name, displayed among the names of the Black/ Forest pack. What was even more curious, and troubling, was the significant increase in names since Alpha Alex had taken over. During Alpha Ben’s reign, there had barely been two or three names; now, in just a few years, there were at least a dozen.

Markus recalled meeting Alpha Alex at several alpha gatherings. Alex had seemed like a decent alpha, perhaps a bit too proud, but nothing out of the ordinary. Markus hadn’t been able to attend Alex’s ascending ceremony as alpha due to conflicts with the vampires at the northern border at the time. He had seen Alex’s Luna in pictures but had never met her personally.

Markus’ concern deepened. Why had the list grown so rapidly under Alex’s leadership? What was happening in the Black Forest pack?

Not wanting to raise suspicion, Markus decided on a subtle approach. He issued a general order to all the packs, asking for detailed backgrounds of those on their terror lists. It was a reasonable request, framed as part of a routine audit to ensure the safety and integrity of their packs.

Additionally, Markus planned to send secret investigators to gradually uncover the truth. He couldn’t stand the idea of innocent wolves becoming rogues due to personal vendettas. The

Alphas had a duty towards their people, not only privileges.

As Markus finished drafting the orders, he felt a sense of urgency and determination. He knew this was just the beginning, but it was a necessary step. It was also time to pay a long-overdue visit to the Black Forest pack.

Markus leaned back in his chair, his mind already planning the next moves. He couldn’t shake the feeling that something deeply wrong was happening in the Black Forest pack, and he was determined to get to the bottom of it.

He took a deep breath, his resolve strengthening. It was time to take action and the first step was

to send his spies.
