“Of course, I do,” he said, his voice thick with feeling. “She’s my mate, Lora. I feel it in every fiber of my being. But… I don’t know how to move forward when she won’t even meet me halfway.”

Azriel, who had been quietly listening, finally spoke. “Sometimes, when we’re given something as important as a mate bond, it tests us in ways we don’t expect. But that doesn’t mean the bond is broken, James. Maybe she’s struggling with something she hasn’t fully explained yet. Something bigger than what she’s let on.”

James stared at the ground, his expression conflicted. “Maybe,” he muttered, though it was clear he wasn’t convinced. “But I’m just… I’m scared. Scared that she doesn’t want the same future I do. That she’ll never come to Stormheart. That I’ll lose her before we’ve even really started.”

Lora stepped closer and placed a hand on James’s arm. “You won’t lose her, James. The mate bond is

stronger than distance or disagreements. But you both need to talk, really talk. And if she’s not ready to leave the Royal Pack, then maybe there’s more going on that you need to understand.”

James nodded slowly, his shoulders still heavy with the weight of uncertainty, but Lora’s words seemed to

offer him a flicker of hope.

“James, consider yourself on vacation for the next two weeks,” Azriel said, his tone leaving no room for

debate.

“What?” James responded, caught off guard. His brow furrowed in confusion. “Azriel, what are you talking

about?”

Azriel raised an eyebrow, the hint of a smirk playing on his lips. “I said, you’re on vacation. We can manage without you at the Stormheart Pack. So, get your arse back inside the castle, find your mate, and try to talk to her, without all the pressure and expectations. Figure out what’s really going on.”

James blinked, still surprised by the sudden declaration. “You, you’re serious?”

Lora, standing beside Azriel, nodded in agreement, her eyes softening as she watched James process the unexpected turn of events. “He’s right, James. The pack will be fine without you for a while. You need this time to sort things out with your mate. It’s important.”
