Revisiting the Past-1

As Elora stood there, her heart pounding with a mixture of fear and uncertainty, she couldn’t help but notice the intensity of Azriel’s gaze as it flickered between her and her son. There was a depth of recognition there, a flicker of something that sent shivers down her spine. She saw from his look that he realized who Asher was to him.

With a trembling hand, she reached out and placed it gently on her son’s shoulder, breaking the staring contest between him and his father.

“Asher,” she said softly, her voice trembling slightly. “This is our guest, Azriel. He’s not going to hurt

us.”

Asher’s brows furrowed in confusion, his eyes darting between his mother and the imposing figure before him. “But he was shouting at you,” he said, his voice tinged with suspicion.

Elora forced a smile, trying to hide the turmoil churning within her. “Sometimes adults can be confusing,” she replied, her voice strained. “But you have nothing to worry about. He was just enthusiastic about something and wanted to talk to me. Everything is going to be okay.”

Asher seemed to consider her words for a moment, his gaze still fixed on Azriel in suspicion.

Eventually, he nodded slowly, seemingly satisfied with her explanation.

Turning her attention back to Azriel, she found herself searching for his expression for some hint of what he was feeling. But his features remained inscrutable with his commanding Alpha face in

place, his gaze unreadable as he regarded her and their son with a mixture of emotions she

couldn’t quite decipher.

With a heavy heart, she braced herself for whatever would come next, knowing that their lives

would never be the same after this encounter.

“We can talk in the back garden,” Elora said, as she made her way towards the outside patio.

Her heart raced as she led Azriel to the back garden, her mind buzzing with a whirlwind of

emotions and fears, as the moment that she always dreaded was finally here and all that she could do was to hope that he would be kind and understanding. She couldn’t shake the feeling of unease

that had settled over her since Azriel’s arrival, but she knew that she needed to face whatever was

coming head-on.

As they stepped outside, Elora’s eyes landed on James, who was seated nearby. She couldn’t help but feel a pang of resentment towards him, suspecting that he was the one who had revealed her

secret to Azriel. Ignoring his intense gaze, she made her way to one of the outdoor chairs and

gestured for Azriel to join her.

Reventing the Past 1

With a heavy sigh, she sank into one of the chairs, feeling the weight of the situation pressing

down on her. Asher stuck close to her side and she could sense his reluctance to leave her side,

his protectiveness evident in the way he clung to her.

Brushing a gentle hand through his hair, Elora told him, “Go and play, my love. I will just stay here and speak with our guest.” At first, Ashe hesitated, his eyes filled with concern.

“We can have ice-cream and pineapple juice later on,” she tried to bribe him with his favorite

threats.

“Promise?” Asher asked eagerly, his eyes shining with anticipation.

Elora smiled softly at him, her heart swelling with love for her son. “Promise,” she replied, her voice

filled with warmth and reassurance. With one last reassuring smile, she watched as Asher

bounded off to play a bit further in the garden, his laughter echoing in the air.

She could feel Azriel’s intense staring in her direction and she prepared herself for the

confrontation.

Turning her attention back to Azriel, Elora braced herself for the difficult conversation that lay

ahead. Elora took a deep breath, steeling herself for the painful memories that threatened to

engulf her. She kept her gaze fixed on a distant point in the garden, unable to meet Azriel’s eyes as

she began to recount her story.

“I was born into a pack,” she started, her voice trembling with emotion. “A family of Betas, with

hopes and dreams like anyone else. But when I turned 18, everything changed. I was not very

popular, as all the attention was always on my twin sister.”
