She fascinated him, and he had to admit that initially when Mary told him that she was a rogue, it almost killed him on the spot. Now, recalling the story he heard about her, made his heart squeeze in compassion. Maybe not all the rogues were vicious and deceptive creatures. Just, maybe. He prayed that the Moon Goddess would bless him with a genuine and kind second chance.
He wanted to ask her today about her history, but he decided that he would wait a bit more unti she is in the pack and agreed to give them a chance.
In a way, he was a bit puzzled by something. Any other woman, rogue or not, would be thrilled to discover that he was their mate. He noticed that she was happy while they were together, but she was controlling her emotions and reactions, being cautious around him, which disturbed him a bit.
With all these ideas in mind, he finally fell asleep. The next morning, after he took a shower, his plan was to get dressed and head towards Mary’s cottage to invite Lora for breakfast/brunch or whatever and to discuss with her the possibility of her moving inside the pack territory.
Last night was a torture not knowing her close, so today he was determined to do something about it. His thoughts were interrupted by the sudden mobile ringtone, and he slightly frowned when he saw that the call was from James, his Beta.
Azriel’s pulse quickened as he swiped to answer the call from James, his mind already racing through a myriad of possibilities. Despite the assurances he had given himself, the fear of losing her still gnawed at him from within.
“What’s the matter, James?! Do you sense any threat?” Azriel’s voice was clipped with urgency, his concern evident in every word.
“Alpha, I just found out something that I need to make you aware of on an urgent basis,” James replied grimly.
“What’s the matter?” Azriel asked, agitated, not liking James’s tone at all.
“Are you aware that your second chance mate has already a pup?” James asked in a cautious
voice.
For a second, he felt that everything stopped around him, not being able to wrap his head around his Beta’s words, “What the fuck are you talking about?!”, as he started to pace around the room.
“I just spoke to the boy. He is maybe 6 or 7 years old, and he lives with his mother Lora in aunt Mary’s cottage,” James replied in a serious voice.
Azriel’s mind reeled, the implications of James’s words sending his thoughts spiraling into chaos.

A whirlwind of pain, betrayal, and anguish engulfed him, threatening to consume him whole.

“How… How is that even possible?” Azriel’s voice cracked with emotion, his fists clenched at his
sides as he struggled to contain the tempest of feelings raging within him.
Lora didn’t open her mouth about having a pup; not even when he told her that he couldn’t wait to
have pups with her. Was she trying to deceive him?
“I am so sorry, my friend. I didn’t want to hear this from me, but maybe it is better to know now.
presumed that maybe she told you,” James added.
His wolf, Thunder, roared in anguish, his primal instincts warring with the devastating news. The scent of his mate, once a source of comfort and solace, now felt like a dagger twisting in his heart.
With each passing moment, the weight of the revelation bore down on him like a crushing burden, threatening to crush him beneath its relentless weight. His world, once filled with hope and possibility, now lay shattered at his feet.
Azriel’s breath came in ragged gasps as he paced the room, his mind consumed by thoughts of pain and darkness. The bond he felt with Lora, once a beacon of light in the darkness, now felt like
a cruel mockery.
He decided that the only way to deal with this was to confront Lora. Getting dressed fast in a pair of jeans and a t-shirt, he made his way towards one of his cars as he left in a hurry.
The engine roared as he pushed the car to its limits, the scenery blurring past him in a haze of greenery and shadow. His grip on the wheel was tight, knuckles white with tension, as he willed himself to stay focused.
In less than 20 minutes, he arrived at the cottage, and, after he took a long breath, he exited the car. Before reaching the door, aunt Mary appeared at the entrance with a panicked expression on
her face.
“Azriel, please be rational and listen to the entire story,” Mary said in a pleading voice.
“Aunt Mary, step aside and let me in. Where is she? This has nothing to do with you.” Azriel replied in anger, trying to control himself from exploding.
“Azriel, please try to calm down,” Mary insisted.
“I said, step aside!” Azriel growled in his Alpha voice, which made Mary submit on the spot to his
strong aura.
As he entered the house, he followed his mate’s smell, and soon he found himself face to face with his mate, Lora. For a second he forgot why he was there, looking at her sweet face and mesmerizing eyes, but the look of fear in her eyes brought him back to reality.

“Why?” he growled at her, barely containing himself.
Elora looked at him, as her body started to tremble from anxiety.
“I believe I have the right to an explanation. So speak while I still listen!” Azriel shouted at her
Her eyes filled with tears as she noticed Azriel’s state. She cleared her voice, trying to reply, but out of nowhere her son came next to her, hugging her.
“What happened mommy, why are you upset?” he asked her in his small voice, before turning to
the unknown man present in their house.
Squeezing his small fists, he stood protectively in front of his mother as he asked the very big man in front of him, “Why are you making mommy cry?! Go away from our home!”
On the other hand, Azriel froze in place as he looked in shock at the little pup in front of him. He took a sniff at him and suddenly something snapped in place in his heart, like a bond, a
connection.
“Our pup!!!” Thunder roared, agitated and feral, while he stood there in disbelief.
With a shocked expression, he looked at Lora, as he asked her with a trembling voice, “How is this possible?”
