Discovery-1

As Azriel sat in his car, parked outside Elora’s cottage, a sense of unease settled over him. Despite

his best efforts to convince her to spend the night with him, she had chosen to depart, leaving him

alone with his turbulent thoughts. Thunder, his wolf, growled restlessly within him, urging him to

pursue her, to bring her back and claim her as their own.

A pang of disappointment washed over him as he realized that Lora had not extended an invitation for him to join her inside. He had hoped that their connection, their undeniable bond/would

compel her to invite him in, but maybe her lack of a wolf might dampen the intensity of her

instincts and reactions.

Frustration simmered beneath the surface as Azriel grappled with conflicting emotions. On one

hand, he longed to honor Lora’s wishes and give her the space she needed. On the other hand, his wolf demanded action, unwilling to accept anything less than claiming their mate at the earliest

possible.

Full of frustration, he pulled out his phone and called James, his Beta.

“Hello, James, are you still in the area?” Azriel said.

“Hello Alpha, yes, I am around, it is all OK?” James replied.

“I need you to come to Aunt Mary’s cottage and keep an eye out tonight,” Azriel replied.

“Something happened? Any threats?” James replied, alerted.

“No, but my mate lives at the moment with Aunt Mary, so I need to make sure that they are safe. Just for my piece of mind.” Azriel answered in a slightly irritated tone.

“Consider it done, I will be there in 15 minutes in my wolf form,” James replied, before cutting the

call.

Good to his promise, after less than 15 minutes he could sense and see James’s wolf.

“Take good care of them,” Azriel mind-linked James.

! With a heavy sigh, Azriel finally tore his gaze away from Lora’s cottage and started the engine of

his car and drove away.

Inside the cottage, Elora saw Azriel finally leaving. She felt a strong pang in her heart, and a sudden sadness engulfed her. Realizing that is the mate bond, she tried to be rational about it, but she could barely control herself.

She didn’t want to leave him tonight, but thinking about Asher brought her the necessary strength.

Yes, Azriel was her mate, but Asher was her soul, her pup.

Recalling Mary’s questions about why she didn’t tell Azriel about Asher, she realized that she just

wanted to spend a few moments in his arms for herself.

She was aware that once he would learn about his son, everything would change, which frightened her to the core; Azriel would focus on his heir and to recover the lost time, while Asher would finally get the father that he always wanted. This would leave her on the outside, which was OK but she just wanted for one evening to feel that exclusive attention only on her. Plus, she was still not sure of his reaction when he would learn the truth. She was rejected once and… deep inside her, she was scared to death that it would happen again, and this time she didn’t know if she would

survive it.

Having a good sleep, it seemed that it was a rare commodity, as despite all ther attempts, each

time she closed her eyes she could feel Azriel’s touch on her skin, on her breasts, on her…

“Snap out of it, Elora,” she mumbled to herself, irritated, while hitting the pillow with her fist.

Finally, after endless minutes, towards the morning, Elora fell asleep.

She felt that she had just closed her eyes when the alarm clock started to ring, signaling the

beginning of another day. Today, Mary and herself were off, so usually on these days they organize picnics in the nearby forest or by the lake nearby.

Knowing that her little alpha would wake up soon, she jumped from the bed, preparing herself for the day ahead. As she made her way towards the kitchen, she expected to meet Mary, as usual,

but Elora’s heart skipped a beat as she stood frozen in the doorway, her gaze fixed on the

unfamiliar figure in her kitchen. The man’s tall, imposing frame and sharp dark features sent a

shiver down her spine, and for a moment, she felt a surge of apprehension ripple through her. From

his body structure and aura, she could guess that he was a highly ranked werewolf.
