Azriel stood by Lora’s side, his hand resting possessively on her lower back as he scanned the room with a vigilant gaze. His expression was one of controlled annoyance. Markus had just relayed to Lora the presence of Alex Blackwood and the Black Forest Pack, a revelation that had evidently irked Azriel.
Markus, noting Azriel’s displeasure, had attempted to justify his decision. “I invited the leadership of all the packs within the kingdom, as well as a few important covens,” Markus explained. “It wouldn’t have been right to exclude the Black Forest Pack, even though I know the history. It was a matter of respect for the alliances and traditions.”
Azriel’s jaw clenched, his eyes narrowing slightly. “You should have known how I’d feel about them being here, how Lora feels.”
Markus held up his hands in a gesture of peace. “I understand your frustration, Azriel, but this was about more than just personal. It’s about the bigger picture, the unity of our people, especially after a war and a pandemic.”
Lora, sensing the growing tension, placed a calming hand on Azriel’s arm. “It’s okay,” she said softly, her voice soothing. “I understand the importance of diplomacy and alliances. The Black Forest Pack and its members are behind me now. Thank you for giving me the heads-up, Markus.”
Markus looked relieved at Lora’s understanding and nodded in appreciation. “Thank you for your grace in this matter,” he said sincerely.
With the conversation resolved, Markus took a deep breath and stepped away from the group. He reached for a glass of champagne from a nearby tray, clearing his throat to capture everyone’s attention. The room fell silent as he began to speak.
“Ladies and gentlemen,” Markus’s voice rang out clearly, his tone both authoritative and warm, “if I could have your attention for just a moment.”
As the crowd turned their focus towards him, the atmosphere in the room shifted to one of anticipation and respect. Markus raised his glass, a gesture that was quickly mirrored by the
guests.
“We have all faced unparalleled challenges,” Markus continued, his voice carrying the weight of the evening’s significance. “The trials of the war and the threat of the lycans were an unmatched test that threatened the freedom of our kind. The pandemic that affected us all was a blow that tested our resilience. But through unity and unwavering determination, we have overcome it all.”
A murmur of agreement rippled through the crowd. Markus’s gaze shifted to Lora, his expression

growing more solemn and reverent.
“However,” Markus said, “none of this would have been possible without one person in this very room. We are talking about the one and only Luna Lora Storm.”
A wave of applause erupted from the guests, their hands clapping enthusiastically in honor of Lora. She felt a flush of warmth spread across her cheeks, a mix of pride and modesty as she glanced up at Azriel, who looked at her with admiration and love.
Markus continued, his voice filled with genuine admiration. “Luna Lora is not just a gifted and revered figure among us. She is also an extraordinary doctor whose skills have saved countless lives. With her gifts bestowed by the Moon Goddess, she fought valiantly against the pandemic, and when the lycans threatened us, she stood alone in battle, nearly losing her life in the process. She gave everything for the greater good.”
Lora’s eyes glistened with unshed tears as Markus spoke. She could feel the weight of his words, the depth of the gratitude and respect from everyone present.
Markus’s tone softened as he concluded, “A devoted mate, a loving mother, and a true hero, we are
incredibly fortunate to have you in our lives. Ladies and gentlemen, please join me in honoring
Luna Lora Storm.”
The applause grew louder, echoing through the hall as Lora stood with her head held high. Azriel’s hand tightened around hers, and he gave her an approving nod. His pride in her was palpable, and
despite the earlier tensions, it was clear that tonight was about celebrating her and the immense
sacrifices she had made.
