A Glimpse of Hope-1
A few minutes later, a member of their team arrived with a small box containing Alpha Carter’s personal effects. Inside were his mobile phone, a gold chain with a pendant, and a few rings he had worn regularly. They stripped him of these items before throwing him in the dungeon, so it
was a good thing that they still did not release these items back to his pack. Kaia took a deep breath as she looked at the items, trying to center herself despite the nausea that still gripped her.
Markus moved to stand beside her, placing a comforting hand on her shoulder. “I’m right here,
Kaia,” he said softly. “We all are.”
Kaia nodded, closing her eyes as she reached out to touch the items. She focused her thoughts,
trying to push past the exhaustion and discomfort to connect with the energies these objects
held. The room fell silent as everyone watched her, the tension palpable.
Minutes ticked by, each one feeling like an eternity. Kaia’s brow furrowed in concentration, her
breathing slow and steady. The others waited with bated breath, hoping that this time, the vision
would reveal something, anything, that could help them.
Finally, Kaia’s body tensed, her fingers tightening around the pendant. A faint glow seemed to
emanate from her, and her face contorted as if she were seeing something beyond the room.
Markus felt his heart race, knowing that the vision had begun.
Kaia’s breath became shallow, and her grip on the pendant tightened even more. Images began to flood her mind, glimpses of a future shrouded in darkness. She saw flashes of a young blonde
woman running with a child, sick and starving, hunted and desperate, hiding in the shadows as
they tried to protect their sacred knowledge. Kaia saw the woman stopping in front of an
orphanage, hugging the child while sobbing, and then, she rang a bell and ran away when the door
opened. She saw the Lycans, their eyes burning with hatred and greed, searching relentlessly for
this woman and the child.
But then, the vision shifted, showing her something unexpected. A face appeared, a woman, old
but with a fierce determination in her eyes. She was surrounded by ancient texts and scrolls, some of which bore the same symbols Kaia had seen in her previous vision. The woman was chanting something, her voice low but powerful, and the surrounding air seemed to vibrate with energy.
Kaia tried to focus on the woman’s surroundings, to get a sense of where she might be, but the vision was hazy. Still, she caught a glimpse of a distinctive mark on the woman’s wrist, a crescent
moon entwined with a vine.
Suddenly, the vision became overwhelming. The darkness that had been lurking at the edges rushed in, filling her mind with pain and despair. Kaia gasped, her body convulsing as the images

became too much to bear.
“Kaia!” Markus shouted, reaching out to steady her.
With a final, shuddering breath, Kaia snapped out of the vision, her eyes flying open. She was trembling, tears streaming down her face as she struggled to catch her breath.
Markus pulled her into his arms, holding her tightly as she sobbed against his chest. “It’s okay, Kaia.
You’re safe. I’m here.”
Azriel and Lora exchanged worried glances, but they remained silent, knowing that Kaia needed a moment to recover. Lora, supported by Azriel, approached her, as the yellow healing glow engulfed
Kaia.
After a few minutes, Kaia managed to calm herself enough to speak. “I… I saw her,” she whispered, her voice trembling. “An old woman, connected to the Dispell Poems. She was chanting… and there was a mark on her wrist, a crescent moon entwined with a vine. I think she knows how to track the bloodline… but she is on Lycan’s side.”
The tension in the room was palpable as Kaia relayed the latest vision. The news that the old woman was working with the Lycans sent a ripple of concern through everyone. Markus, who had been pacing, stopped abruptly and turned to face her, his expression dark.
“This is not good at all,” Markus said, his voice heavy with concern. “If she’s using witchcraft to track the bloodline connected to the Dispell Poems, it means the Lycans are already a step ahead of us. We’re racing against time, and they have a powerful ally on their side.”
