Alpha Carter’s Betrayal-2

Alpha Carter’s Betrayal-2

He paused, letting the tension build before continuing. “First, I want to make it clear that in these

times of war, unity is more important than ever. We cannot afford any weaknesses, any divisions

among us. The enemy is at our gates, and we must be vigilant.”

The Council members nodded in agreement, their expressions serious. Alpha Carter shifted

slightly in his seat, his eyes flicking nervously around the room.

Markus continued, his gaze now fixed on Carter. “Unfortunately, there have been concerns raised

about the loyalty of certain individuals within our ranks. Concerns that need to be addressed

immediately.”

A ripple of unease spread through the council. Carter’s face remained silent.

“To ensure that there is no doubt, no uncertainty,” Markus said, his voice growing colder, “I have

decided to take drastic measures.”

He turned his full attention to the Head of the Council, Alpha Carter, his eyes boring into him.”

Councilman Carter, please stand.”

Carter hesitated, then slowly rose to his feet.

“Councilman Carter,” Markus continued, his voice sharp and commanding, “you are accused of

conspiring with our enemies, of betraying the pack, and of putting all of us in grave danger. How

do you plead?”

A shocked silence fell over the room. The other council members stared at Carter, their eyes wide

with disbelief, before a wave of murmors spread.

“Silence everyone!” Markus commanded, “I need to head from Alpha Carter!”

Carter’s mouth opened and closed, his face ashen. “This… this is ridiculous! I have done no such

thing! You are abusing your power, King Markus, and based on this the Council could hold your

accountable.”

“I am well aware of our laws, Alpha Carter, but at the same time, if there is any suspicion of

betrayal, I am within my rights to suspend Council activity.

Alpha Carter became enraged, looking around him in desperation, “This is absurd. A personal vendetta.” He looked at his colleagues, “Do something or soon everyone will face similar accusations and the Council will lose its regulatory function!”

Markus’s eyes narrowed, and he invoked his Alpha command, his voice deep and resonant. “Alpha Carter, I command you to speak the truth. Did you or did you not conspire with the Lycans?”

Alpha Carter’s Betrayal-2

Carter’s eyes glazed over as the Alpha command took hold, his will bending under the weight of Markus’s power. He struggled for several moments, his body shaking as his nose started to bleed from trying to oppose the King’s command, before the truth was wrenched from his lips as he fell

on his knees.

“Yes,” he choked out, his voice trembling. “I… I conspired with them. I betrayed the pack.

A collective gasp filled the room. The Council members looked at Carter in horror, unable to

believe what they were hearing.

Markus’s expression was cold, merciless. “Why? What could possibly drive you to such treachery?”

Carter’s eyes filled with tears as he confessed, the words spilling out uncontrollably. “I… I was desperate. My daughter, Alice… she was in trouble. The Lycans offered me money, power… I / thought I could save her, protect her. But it all spiraled out of control. I didn’t want this, I swear it!”

The Council members were in an uproar, their shock quickly turning to anger. Voices rose in outrage, condemning Carter’s betrayal.

Markus raised a hand, silencing the room. “There will be a public trial by the end of the day,” he declared, his voice firm. “The entire pack will witness the consequences of betrayal. Justice will be served,” Markus added, before turning towards his Praetorian Guard, “take him to the dungeon. No one is allowed to visit the prisoner until the trial time.”

With that, he dismissed the Council, leaving them reeling from the revelation. As the members filed out of the room, Markus remained behind, his expression grim.

Azriel approached him, his voice low. “It’s done. The truth is out.”

Markus nodded, his mind already turning to the next steps. “Now we make sure that no one ever forgets what happens to those who betray their pack.”
