Bleeding-2
As Kaia made her way to the large altar, she looked around, trying to comprehend what she needed to do. Her thoughts were interrupted by a voice she recognized instantly. Queen Tonya stepped forward, her presence commanding and sinister. “You need to kneel and pray to the Moon
Goddess for forgiveness of your sins,” she instructed, her tone cold and unyielding.
Kaia’s heart started to beat loudly in her chest as she took in the Queen’s appearance. It was
exactly like her vision: the details, the dress, everything was the same. She tried to buy time,
searching for an escape route, but she didn’t want to alert Queen Tonya that she knew what was
going to happen. She needed to defend herself without revealing her foreknowledge.
“What is the ritual in this place?” Kaia asked, her voice steady despite her rising panic.
The Queen smiled, a predatory gleam in her eyes. “The ritual here is a simple one, but you will need
to shed some blood.”
Kaia’s expression drained of color, and the Queen laughed, amused. “Relax, it’s nothing too horrific.
You just need to pierce one of your fingers with this dagger and drop the blood into this goblet.”
Kaia’s eyes widened in panic when she recognized the dagger from her vision. But to her surprise,
the Queen extended her arm and handed it to her. “Take it and follow my instructions. No worries.
You will get it done in no time.”
Her heart pounding, Kaia took the dagger. Her wolf, Sierra, was as confused as she was. “I wasn’t
expecting this,” Sierra growled in her mind.
“Me neither,” Kaia replied silently, gripping the dagger tightly.
The Queen held the ceremonial cup in front of her, encouraging her with a mocking smile. “Please,
let’s get over with it as we have a ceremony to attend… today.”
Taking a long breath, Kaia used the knife to pierce her finger, letting a few drops of blood fall into the goblet. The Queen smiled, satisfied, as she extended her arm again and waited for Kaia to return the dagger, Kaia hesitated, unwilling to give it back. She felt a cold dread settling in her
stomach.
But before she got the chance to analyse more, in the next moment, Kaia felt a sharp, sudden pain in her abdomen. She screamed in agony and fell to her knees, clutching her stomach. Through her blurry vision, she saw Queen Tonya standing over her, a cruel smile on her face.
“You were always too naive,” the Queen sneered. “You actually believed you could take my place. That someone like you, so damaged and uneducated, could actually become Queen and be worthy of staying next to my son?”

Kaia’s vision darkened as she struggled to stay conscious. Sierra roared in her mind, fighting to keep her alert. “We have to fight back!” her wolf urged.
Kaia gritted her teeth, forcing herself to stay focused. She still had the dagger in her hand. With the last of her strength, she slashed at the queen’s leg, causing Tonya to stumble back with a cry of pain, as she stumbled in surprise and fell to the ground.
Despite slashing the queen with the knife in an unexpected move, the pain in Kaia’s abdomen was searing hot, driving her crazy. She clutched her stomach, her breath coming in ragged gasps. “Wha t the hell did she do to us?” Kaia groaned in agony, fighting to stay conscious.
Sierra, her wolf, was equally distressed. “I’m trying to heal you, but there’s nothing to heal! I am
confused,” Sierra said, panic evident in her mental voice.
“I have no idea, Kaia,” Sierra added, struggling to understand what was happening. “But… I believe
that we are… bleeding.”
Kaia’s confusion deepened. “But we are not cut, she didn’t stab us,” she replied, bewildered.
Then Sierra’s next words made Kaia freeze in place, her heart plummeting. “I believe that we are
miscarrying.”
“What?! But … we are not pregnant… I think,” Kaia cried out, the realization hitting her like a ton of
bricks. The searing pain in her abdomen wasn’t just from the Queen’s attack, it was something
much worse.
“We have to get help,” Sierra urged, the urgency in her voice pulling Kaia back to the present. “Now!”
but the next words from Tonya froze her in place.
“Stop struggling, and it will be over in a few more moments. Whatever you want to do is useless as it is already a done deal. The bastard from your womb is gone.” Tonia replied in an amused voice.
