Ceremony Preparations

As Kaia and Markus retreated to their room, the weight of Markus’s announcement still hung heavily in the air. Kaia’s thoughts raced, her heart pounding with a mixture of shock and concern.

Once in their privacy, she turned to Markus, her voice trembling slightly. “Markus, there is a time and place to crown me as your queen, but right now, your focus should be on more important things like the outbreak and dealing with the Lycan threat.”

Markus stepped closer, wrapping his arms around her, pulling her into a comforting embrace. “When will you realize, my sweet girl, that there is nothing more important than you?” he murmured softly. “It is time for you to have the full power that is rightfully yours.”

Kaia looked up at him, her concern evident in her eyes. “Your mother will not like this,” she said, her

voice filled with worry.

Markus gently placed a finger under her chin, lifting her gaze to meet his. “My mother should have gotten used to the idea by now that there is a new queen in this castle. You have been gracious enough not to push for your rightful role, but enough is enough, my love. I will not tolerate my mother continuing to act as the queen while this place is rightfully yours. I am grateful for her role and support, but do not think that I am blind to what is happening around me. Do not forget my age, sweet girl. So, please…. be my Queen, take your full right and place next to me from tomorrow

onwards.”

Kaia’s eyes softened, her worries melting away as she saw the determination in Markus’s gaze. She smiled, cupping his face in her hands. “If this is making you happy, then… yes. You always know how to reassure me,” she whispered before leaning in to kiss him tenderly.

Their kiss deepened, passion igniting between them. The worries of the world outside their room faded away, replaced by the intensity of their connection. Markus’s hands roamed Kaia’s body, tracing the curves he knew so well. Kaia responded in kind, her fingers threading through his hair as she pressed herself closer to him.

They moved together, their bodies finding a rhythm that was both familiar and exhilarating. The urgency of their desire grew, their kisses becoming more fervent, their touches more demanding. Markus’s hands slipped under Kaia’s clothes, his fingers trailing over her skin, leaving a trail of fire

in their wake.

Kaia moaned softly, her body arching into his touch. Markus guided her to the bed, their movements synchronized in their need for each other. They undressed each other with a mix of

tenderness and urgency, their clothes falling to the floor, forgotten in the heat of the moment.

As they came together, their bodies entwined, the world outside ceased to exist. Their lovemaking

was passionate and intense, a testament to the love and commitment they shared. Every touch

every kiss, every movement spoke of the depth of their connection, the unbreakable bond that held them together.

Afterward, they lay together, spent, their breaths coming in soft, satisfied sighs. Markus held Kaja

close, his fingers gently tracing patterns on her skin. Kaia rested her head on his chest, feeling the

steady beat of his heart beneath her ear.

“You are my everything,” Markus whispered, his voice filled with love and devotion. “And I will do

whatever it takes to ensure you have the power and respect you deserve.”

Kaia smiled, her heart swelling with love for the man beside her. “I love you, Markus,” she

whispered back, her voice filled with the same devotion.

They stayed like that for a while, wrapped in each other’s arms, drawing strength from their love. The challenges ahead seemed less daunting with Markus by her side, his unwavering support giving her the courage she needed.

As they drifted off to sleep, Kaia felt a sense of peace settle over her. But, at the same time, she could not stop herself from worrying about the future.

The next day, the entire castle buzzed with activity as preparations for the crowning ceremony reached a fever pitch. An army of maids and makeup artists descended upon Kaia, determined to make her look stunning for the occasion. Lora watched, amused, at the flurry of beautification

efforts, while Kaia endured the tedious process with as much patience as she could muster.

“You find this amusing, ah?” Kaia snapped, her irritation barely concealed.

Lora laughed, a teasing glint in her eyes. “I wouldn’t dare… Your Highness.”

After a few more rounds of teasing and banter, Lora succeeded in easing Kaia’s nerves. Just as

Kaia was about to change into her selected ceremonial attire, a knock sounded at the door. Queen

Tonya herself entered, followed by several attendants carrying various items.

“Good morning,” Tonya greeted her with a smile that didn’t quite reach her eyes. “I hope I am not

intruding.”

“Not at all, Your Majesty,” Kaia replied, rising to her feet.

Tonya’s gaze softened as she addressed Kaia. “Kaia, my dear. I know I may seem harsh at times,

but I only want what is best for you and my son. Being a Queen is not an easy role and I want you to

be well-prepared for your new role.”

Kaia nodded, choosing to remain silent. She wasn’t sure what to make of Tonya’s sudden display of

kindness.

“Tradition in the royal family,” Tonya continued, “dictates that the current Queen selects a dress, for the new Queen to wear during the coronation.”

Kaia hummed in confusion but opted not to ask it. She was unaware of such a custom.

Tonya gestured to the attendants, who placed on the bed a covered dress. “This dress will fit you perfectly,” Tonya said. “I asked the designer to make our dresses identical.”

“Identical?” Kaia echoed, her confusion deepening.

“Yes, my dear,” Tonya confirmed. “As per tradition, we will wear identical dresses during the

ceremony.”

Lora’s eyebrows shot up, and she looked bewildered, but before she could say anything, Tonya excused herself. “I must go and get ready. I will see you both soon.”

After the Queen left, Lora turned to Kaia, her face a picture of disbelief. “What the hell was that? Since when does the mother-in-law wear the same dress as the bride? I know it is not a wedding per say, but a crowning ceremony, but still… I see it in the same way, call me crazy.”

“No idea,” Kaia replied, equally confused. “For sure she succeeded in surprising me as well. Let’s see what this dress looks like and fingers crossed not to be something horrific.”

Lora extracted a stunning sage green dress from its box, holding it up for inspection. “Oh… not bad at all. This dress is stunning. What do you think?”

Kaia, however, had gone pale and stood frozen in place. Concerned, Lora stepped closer. “Kaia, what happened? Are you okay? You don’t like the dress?”

Kaia’s voice trembled as she answered, “This is the dress…”

“Which dress?” Lora asked, puzzled.

Kaia’s eyes filled with dread as she whispered, “The dress from my vision, when Queen Tonya was

killing me.”

Lora’s face turned ashen. “Are you sure?”

Kaia nodded; her fear palpable. “It’s exactly the same that she wore while lifting her dagger that

entered my chest.”
