Girls Talk II-1
Kaia was absolutely ecstatic to have Lora and Azriel at the royal castle. The joy in her heart was
palpable, yet despite the support from Markus and their passionate relationship, Kaia still didn’t feel completely at home in the grand palace. The castle, with its endless halls and shadowed corners, was both majestic and intimidating. The lavish surroundings, the echoes of history and tradition, and the constant presence of courtlers and advisors made her feel like an outsider, especially with Queen Tonya around.
Queen Tonya, with her impeccable poise and grace, was the epitome of regal demeanor. She had a smile that could disarm anyone and a grace that seemed flawless in public. But Kaia knew the
other side of the Queen, the side that had once tried to undermine her, the side that had woven a web of manipulations and deceit to get rid of her. Initially, Kaia had tried to give Tonya the benefit of the doubt, believing that perhaps the Queen was simply a product of her environment, a woman
who had been shaped by years of tradition and power. But the truth, as it often does, had a way of
surfacing.
One afternoon, Kaia was in her dressing room, meticulously choosing an outfit for an official
dinner. Markus was with her, his presence a comforting anchor in the vast sea of nobility. As she rifled through her gowns, Markus’s eyes fell on a particular dress. It was a striking piece with
intricate lace and a daring cut, way too inappropriate for any official function. He picked it up, raising his eyebrows with an amused smirk. “I never thought you’d own something so… revealing,”
he said, his voice laced with intrigue and a hint of possessiveness.
Kaia looked at the dress, puzzled. “This is the dress you gifted me to wear last time I was here,”
she replied, her brow furrowed.
Markus’s expression turned to one of confusion. “The color is the same, but I would never have
chosen something like this for you to wear, especially in public,” he said, shaking his head. “It’s
too… much… or to say … less.”
Kaia’s curiosity was piqued. “Are you sure? Maybe you just forgot.”
“Absolutely sure,” Markus replied firmly. “It must have been a mix-up at the shop. I clearly selected
something else for you and this is not that dress.”
Kaia nodded, accepting his explanation, but that evening, as she sat in bed, the memory of the dress and the staff’s insistence on her wearing it lingered in her mind. Her eyes squeezed shut in
suspicion. The more she thought about it, the more she realized that someone had been meddling in their relationship from the very beginning, even before it became official, trying to sow seeds of doubt and discord. The staff’s subtle pushes, the strange coincidences, the little mishaps, everything pointed to someone manipulating the situation.

Determined to keep herself safe, Kaia started paying closer attention to the palace’s daily life. Since she had moved in and Markus had announced her as his Queen, the small incidents had only increased. From misplaced documents, engagement locations changed last minute to staff or court members giving her knowing looks, nothing seemed to be as it should. It was as if someone was deliberately creating chaos, trying to unsettle her and Markus, and make her fail in her new role.
Sierra, Kaia’s wolf, was full of temper and feeling deeply unsettled. Her constant restlessness mirrored the unease that Kaia felt within the royal castle. The presence of Angelika Stone and her court of sycophantic drones only increased her discomfort. Angelika always looked at Kaia with an air of superiority, always trying to make her feel inadequate. Yet, in the presence of others, Angelika was the epitome of grace and innocence, a master of duplicity.
Kaia had tried talking to Markus about it, expressing her concerns over Angelika’s behavior. However, Markus’s response was less than reassuring. “Trust me, I get you, but Angelika is part of
my mother’s court,” he had explained. “Councilman Stone is an important member of the Court and Council, very close to the throne. We can’t just push them aside without consequences, at least for the moment. Please bear with me a little longer and I promise you that they will be gone
in the future.”
