Lora remained silent, her face a mask of cold resolve as she followed Azriel to their room. They gathered their items quickly, the weight of the recent events heavy in the air. Soon, their entourage was ready for departure. They exited the Pack House, and everyone boarded the cars, but Azriel

held Lora back.

She looked at him with a questioning gaze but soon understood why. The noise from above grew louder, and soon a helicopter bearing the royal insignia descended, landing gracefully in the clearing. “This is our ride,” Azriel said, nodding one last time to Alpha Ben in farewell.

Lora started to walk toward the helicopter, but a voice called out from behind. It was her father, Beta Graham. She turned to face him, her expression unreadable.

“I’m sorry, Elora… please,” he said, his voice trembling with emotion and pain, as he was barely holding it together. From the respected family he always took pride in, in just a few years he lost his daughters, his reputation and now … his mate.

To everyone’s surprise, her reply was cold and detached, in a composed tone. “My name is Luna

loss.” Lora Storm. Elora Black is long dead. Goodbye, Beta Black. I am sorry for your

Her tone and words froze everyone in place, a stark reminder of the consequences of their actions. She turned away, not looking at anyone, and made her way to the helicopter, her back straight, her demeanor unyielding. As the helicopter took off, the pack members below watched in silence, the weight of their guilt and regret heavy in the air.

Once they were alone in the helicopter, Lora’s mask broke. She began to cry, her body shaking with the force of her emotions. Azriel pulled her into his arms, his hold strong and comforting.

“I’ve got you, my dove,” he whispered, his voice filled with love and reassurance. “I’ve got you.”

Lora clung to him, the pain and sadness pouring out of her. Despite the turmoil of the past days, she found solace in Azriel’s embrace.

Her sobs echoed in the confined space of the helicopter, the weight of her emotions crashing over her like a relentless tide. She cried out of sadness for her lost family, frustration at the unfairness of her past, and fury at the betrayal and cruelty she had endured. The feelings inside her were a tangled mess, confusing and overwhelming. Despite the apologies she received, a bitterness remained, a part of her unable to fully forgive the pack that had wronged her so deeply. Yet, she couldn’t help but feel a pang of pity for them, especially after witnessing the devastation and loss they had suffered.

The death of her mother left her unsettled. Despite the animosity and the wounds of the past, she

hadn’t wanted to be the reason for her mother’s death. The conflicting emotions churned within her, making it hard to find peace. Through her turmoil, Azriel held her tightly, whispering words of comfort and reassurance. “Give yourself time to process how you feel, my dove. It’s okay to be angry, sad, and confused. Just take it one step at a time.”

After her sobs subsided, Lora lifted her head, her eyes red and puffy, and looked at Azriel with confusion. “When did you call the helicopter, and where are we going?”

Azriel gave her a gentle smile, wiping away her remaining tears with his thumb. “We’re going to the royal castle to see Markus. I arranged for the helicopter as a precaution.”

“Precaution?” Elora asked, puzzled.

Azriel’s expression grew serious, and after a pause he continued. “Yes. I believe the attack on the Black Forest Pack was actually directed at us, not them.”

“What?” Elora exclaimed, her eyes widening in shock.

Azriel nodded grimly. “The timing, the scale, and the coordination of the attack are too much of a coincidence. I suspect that our presence here, and your healing abilities, drew attention. Someone or something orchestrated this to get to us. To get you, my dove. I am not telling you this to scare you, but to make you alert. Things will become harder until we get peace. So please, be cautious of your environment as well. Not everything is what it seems.”
