The sun was low on the horizon, casting long shadows over the battlefield that had once been the Black Forest pack’s territory. The survivors moved slowly, their spirits broken, as they began the arduous process of tending to the wounded and honoring the dead.
Amidst this somber atmosphere, tension simmered between Azriel and Alex. Their auras clashed, the air thick with unspoken anger and unresolved emotions. Azriel stood tall, his protective stance clear, while Alex’s eyes were wild with a mix of regret and determination.
“You’re not worthy of Elora,” Alex spat, his voice trembling with suppressed rage.
“And you are?” Azriel retorted, his eyes narrowing. The tension was palpable, like a storm about to
break.
The argument escalated quickly, voices rising above the sounds of mourning around them. “You abandoned her!” Azriel’s voice boomed. “You rejected her and chose her sister. What right do you
have to claim her now?”
“I was blind,” Alex shouted back. “But I see the truth now. Elora belongs with me. It’s her destiny to be my Luna.”
Lora stepped between them, her eyes flashing with anger. “You have no right to say these things, Alex. You rejected me. You and this pack condemned me to death. And even after my death, if this
was not enough, you added me to the Terror List! You made your choice. And I have made mine.”
Alex’s desperation was clear. “I was a fool, Elora. But now that I see the truth, I know your place is
next to me.”
“Incredible,” Lora replied, her voice dripping with sarcasm. “You’re delusional, Alex.”
Alpha Ben stepped forward, trying to defuse the situation. “Alex, enough. This isn’t the time or place for this.”
But Alex shoved his father away, his focus entirely on Azriel. “I challenge you, Azriel,” he declared, his voice resonating with raw emotion. “For Elora.”
Azriel’s eyes flashed with anger. “I don’t want to fight you, Alex. Stop this nonsense.”
But Alex’s rage knew no bounds. He charged at Azriel like a bull, his movements fuelled by blind determination. Azriel deftly deflected the attack, trying to maintain his calm. “Stand down, Alex,” Azriel growled with a dense warning in his tone.
But Alex grew more enraged, his attacks more frenzied. The last of Azriel’s patience snapped. The next time Alex lunged, Azriel struck with a single, powerful fist which produced a strong crack

O when it came in contact with Alex. Alex’s body flew several meters, landing unconscious in a heap
on the ground. The surrounding pack members gasped in shock.
Azriel turned to Alpha Ben, his eyes blazing, barely containing his dangerous aura, and it took all his
willpower not to go and finish this lunatic. “Control your son, Alpha Ben and this is my last warning
The next time, I will not be so merciful.”
Alpha Ben, his face pale, nodded quickly. “I will, Alpha Azriel. Please, accept my apologies.”
Azriel stood in the aftermath of the battle, his gaze fixed on Alpha Ben. “We will be leaving soon
he announced. “Our work here is finished.”
Alpha Ben nodded in agreement, a somber expression on his face. “I understand. Thank you for everything you’ve done for us.”
Azriel continued, his voice tinged with sympathy. “I’m sorry for the loss of your pack members in this horrific attack. Is this something normal? This type of rogue attack?”
Alpha Ben shook his head, his eyes filled with confusion and grief. “No, this is unprecedented. We’ve never encountered an attack of this scale. We have no idea what fuelled it. Maybe the news that we had many infected and that the pack was weak.”
“Maybe,” Azriel replied, his voice pensive, with a hint of suspicion. “We’ll get our personal belongings and leave.”
“Thank you for your assistance; it will not be forgotten. And Elora… I can’t tell you how sorry we are for everything. I know we don’t deserve your forgiveness, but maybe in time…” Alpha Ben added
with a painful expression on his face.
