Graham had blamed Ava for spoiling Alena too much and filling her head with materialistic dreams. Ava, in turn, had blamed Graham for being too focused on his role as Beta and maintaining the pack’s reputation. After Alena’s betrayal and subsequent departure from the pack, they were left adrift, their lives devoid of purpose beyond their official duties.

Today, when they saw Elora alive, mated to Alpha Azriel, it had shaken them to their core. But the revelation at dinner that Elora was pregnant was an even greater shock. It was as if the past had come back to haunt them, with an added layer of guilt and regret that was almost unbearable.

After dinner, in the dim light of their living room, Ava sat on the couch, her hands trembling as she tried to process everything. Graham stood by the window, his back to her, staring into the darkness

outside.

“Ava,” he said finally, his voice heavy with emotion, “how did we get here? How did we make such a terrible mistake?”

Ava shook her head, tears streaming down her face. “I don’t know, Graham. I truly believed we were doing the right thing. But seeing her today… knowing she’s pregnant… it makes everything so much worse. The images of the night when we punished her and rejected her as our daughter, when we sentenced her to death…”

Graham turned to face her, his eyes filled with pain. “We killed our own daughter. We believe lies and let them guide our actions. How can we ever make amends for that?”

Ava sobbed, her body shaking. “We can’t. There’s no way to undo what we’ve done. All we can do is try to help the pack recover and hope that Elora can find some peace.”

They sat in silence for a long time, each lost in their thoughts,

As the night deepened, Graham spoke again. “We need to support Alpha Ben and do whatever it takes to help this pack heal. Maybe in time, we can find a way to atone for our mistakes.”

Ava nodded, wiping her tears. “Yes. We owe it to Elora, and to ourselves, to do whatever we can. On the other side of the pack, Alex and his wolf spent the entire night in restless torment, twisting and turning in their shared agony. The thought of Elora being pregnant gnawed at their sanity, an incessant reminder of the life and future they had lost.

“That pup should have been ours,” his wolf growled in deep unhappiness, the pain in its voice mirroring Alex’s own.

“I know,” Alex replied, his voice tinged with sorrow. “But it doesn’t matter. What’s important is that

she’s alive and well. She can give us other pups in the future. The key is to win her forgiveness and woo her back.”

His wolf whimpered in concern. “But the bond with us is broken. She is marked and mated to another.”

Alex, determined to stay resolute, countered, “It doesn’t matter. Her presence here is a gift from the Moon Goddess, a chance to right our past mistakes. It is a divine sign!”

His wolf was conflicted, torn between the desire to reclaim their mate and the harsh reality of her new bond. But Alex continued to persuade it, reinforcing their shared determination. “We will win her over. You will see; she was fated to be our and this time we will make it happen!”

Morning arrived, bringing with it a renewed sense of purpose. Alex kept a vigilant eye on the guest room where Elora and Azriel were staying. He knew his father had a morning meeting with Alpha Azriel and waited anxiously until he saw Azriel leave the room.

With his heart pounding, Alex approached the guest room door and knocked softly. Hearing no movement inside, looking left and right to make sure there was no one around, he pressed the door handle and entered slowly, guided by his instincts.

Elora lay sleeping peacefully on the bed, her serene expression like that of an angel. Alex’s heart leaped in his chest as he approached her, the sight of her filling him with a potent mix of desire, regret, and longing. He reached out with a trembling hand and gently caressed her soft hair, his touch light and tender.

“Soon,” he whispered, his voice barely audible, “we will be together soon, just the way it was supposed to be, my mate. Don’t worry, soon you will be in my arms.”

Elora stirred slightly, a faint sign of waking. Alerted, Alex withdrew in silence, his heart racing. He slipped out of the room, closing the door softly behind him.
